This is a great playing and sounding guitar. I mainly bought it to flip it... its a unique guitar though. Anyone know the history behind the Wilshire guitars? Seems they were made awhile back as well as recently. Too many guitars or else I would keep it. I see them sell on reverb for $300-400 and a few that went for $495 and $590. Im sure I can make a quick $400 on it if I put it up on reverb in mint condition for that price.

I always enjoy reading your finds from pawn shops and other places... I'm always on the hunt for good deals like you on guitars and music gear in general. I got lucky and found this one on offer up, had been listed at $100 for over a day. I made an offer for $70 and he was glad to accept. It had a nice combo amp originally that he just sold before I messaged him so I figured why not make a lower offer. I did feel like I robbed him, but he is none the wise since he did not do his research on the guitar beforehand. I love the guitar though, the pickups are really good and it sounds great. Id much rather have the $400 though. Just threw it up on reverb and ebay for $600 and locally for $450. I don't think I will sell it right away however, it might sit awhile until I get my asking price or near my asking price. However I am really grateful since this is my first good find since near the beginning of June since I have stopped continuously watching FB marketplace and craigslist all day long hitting refresh from 12-7pm. I have also not been going to the pawn shops as much as I used to since they have opened back up... I have a gut feeling I have missed out on some pretty good buys lately. Just finished my degree and am on the search for a job and just spending a lot of time playing games with my son online so the trade off is for sure worth it.

Great Score, Chad!
I´ve always had a thing with those Epi Wilshire. Exactly like yours, with that headstock, block inlays and HBs. I´m afraid they are on the very thin side - the body, I mean-?

You and psychocid, both. "Oh look, I got EVH's original frankenstein super strat for $15 and a pack of gum today."
Impressive, but infuriating at the same time.

I'm a fan Epi Wilshires but I regularly get them confused for the model that's very similar to them. I think the vintage ones had P90s and/or minis in them.

You've reminded me of an old friend. He was the service manager at a big car dealership.
He had 4 heart attacks within 6 months which caused him to retire.
So, he & his son started buying & restoring old cars then selling them.
There was an ad in the "Thrifty Nickel" (remember them) for several weeks for a 1953 Chevrolet for $300.
So he called the lady & was told it was something in an outbuilding on the farm that her husband used to play with.
She said some guy was coming over to look at it but if he didn't take it, he was welcome to it.
When he got there a couple of guys were loading a 1953 Corvette on a trailer.......

Yeah, the body is a pretty thin body in comparison to some of my other guitars.

You are spot on about the upper access, the guitar grows on me because it plays great as is without me having to give it any sort of setup yet. I love how great those pickups sound in it... they dont really need to be changed at all.

I sure do hate to see it gone, but an international buyer just bought it for $600 plus $65 shipping through ebay, so off it goes.

My Wilshire is easily one of my top guitars. Modded with a pickguard from Floridian FX, a neck pickup from Buddha Pickups, a vintage 80s PRS pickup in the bridge, and my go-to upgrade, a Gibson TP-6 tailpiece.
