I once asked about the P90 equipped Wolfgang Ed was flingin' around in VH's "Without You" video.

This one:

Still looking for answers.

All I could ever find was that it's rumored those are Lollar Noiseless P90s, but no one seems to know if the guitar was used for anything other than miming for this shoot. There's speculation that EVH tracked it on VHIII, but I've not seen anything definitive to verify that. I read a lot of forums looking for that guitar, but no one seems to have one - and it seems to be considered taboo to pair p90s with a Floyd.

I'm still planning to build something similar someday. I think the idea of a FR equipped P90 guitar is fun.

I'm the one who noted that the guitar in question is from the "Meth Eddie" era.

I don't recall that conversation but that is exactly the thought that popped into my mind when I saw that 2nd pic!

Those were strange days for sure!

Yeah, not his finest moment, but Ed will probably still sound good to his last day. Looks like he may be done touring, or so Dave speculated.

I'm okay with that if it's true. It's a shame, but he clearly can't handle the road anymore. It seems to be when he runs into trouble, and I'd rather he'd be around people that can and will look after him.

I'd really like him to keep working on music, and it would be lovely if he'd post his work on YT or something. If he'd throw some vids like "Catherine" every once in awhile, I'd certainly watch them. I think it would be a rather popular channel if he'd "de-mystify" certain long speculated rumors about just how he did some of the shit he pulled.

He's a singular talent, and I've always enjoyed his music - no matter the VH "era."

Agree with you brother. The people that have worked with him in the guitar business have had tons of praise for how he treats people.

You know, I only recently learned some of the good intent moral behind stories like beauty and the beast. Each of us has good qualities and challenges, and love helps us to overcome.

Would love to see some YouTube vids from the man himself, breaking down bits and pieces. He might take the #1 YouTube touring spot in a week.

"Hey guys, thanks for tuning in! Today I'm going to cover all of my mods to Frankie, tell ya how I painted it, and which guitar and neck it actually is. Maybe if there's time, I'll tell ya all about my tone and how I dial it in. Heck, I might even show ya the mods to my ol' Marshalls. We'll get to that in a minute. First, here's a word from EVH Guitars."

Some of those have the silent circuit built in. I find it makes the pickups a bit brighter, probably due to a buffer involved (so no high end loss), but I'd probably like that in P90s. I'd love to grab one of these. I'd prefer the Albert Lee models for the bigger necks. I didn't like the thinner profile on the axis.
