As I posted elsewhere, this is an Alder body that I asked a guy to knock upon and find me the liveliest of his blanks.
He cnc'd it two nights ago. Its in transet now.

bought 3 of these Allparts LRO 7.25, tall frets, necks. Just arrived.

I have this on the way - Harley Benton Fusion II. Locking tuners, roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets, Wilkinson bridge. I have a set of Fishman Fluence Modern pickups ready to go.

Is there a "like" button available here?

I'm really hoping it quenches the thirst of a Suhr I've had for the past few years. Having to have the talk with the wife about another mystery $2k+ purchase never ends well.

Looove that HB! I may have to bite one of these days. Glad to see some familiar names here by the way

The alder body from a few posts up, turns out to be very nice, with good tap tones and very tight tolerances for the new neck into its neck pocket. The outfit is called Woodtech from Ohio, and on reverb.

I'm going to just put 2 or 3 birchwood-cassey tru-oil coats on it and leave it fairly raw. Same for the maple neck w/ rosewood. Just enough to close up the pores and leave a thin layer.

Got this beauty a couple of weeks ago.

2008 PRS Swamp Ash Special. Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in neck and bridge, and Diamrzio DP 420 in middle. Just leveled, crowned and polished the frets. Amazing. All I can say.

So thats a 5+1 wilk trem? I think so, as I was looking at those a week ago, but it didnt look that stout. Maybe it did. Do they have different models of the 5+1? I may like the 54mm spacing if 56 proves too close to the edges w/ rolloff.

this one is old! Probably one of the first they made. It was on the guitar when i bought it back in about 1994.

Today (my saturday) I can assemble one or two new setups and finally give the 7.25 a new whirl. I dont anticipate any surprises as I loved the 7.25 feel on my strat up to 2012. It wore out. For new necks, 3 coats of Tru oil is nice and thin. Waiting on new bridge ( 2-7/32) and neck bolt screws for the new alder body which also has only 3 coats Tru-oil.
Three 1-5/8 vintage Allparts LRO necks at nuts do vary a bit, all to wider side.
Their 1-5/8 (1.625") vintage listings turned out to be 1.658, 1.651, and 1.648. All 3 will get fender 1.650 bone nuts.
Neck thicknesses at 1st are .83 to .86.
The one 1.658 neck is also slightly wider at 12th fret, so that neck will couple with new body and 2-7/32 bridge. If it gets rolloff, I will swap bridge to Wilk 5+1 which have 2-1/8 (54mm). I'll write up about what I think with the swap back to 7.25, tonight.
This new neck and body fit together tighter than I've ever experienced. Neck heel only fits being fitted straight down into pocket from above.
Its like a key spline. Its waiting for bridge and neck screws.

Okay, I got one bolted on with tuners and nut, and set up, minus the pickups, and have been playing it for over an hour,
I have it set up to 5/64ths across all strings. I havent tried going down to 4/64ths which is the lowest I would feel comfortable with.
I am tuned to D# because thats been my norm lately.

Feel: That tighter 7.25" radius fits the natural curve of my hand very well, better than 9.5.
My bar chords, my cowboy chords, my hammer-on chord fragments, all feel more comfortable to me. Just the opposite way I felt when I started accepting 9.5 as the new alternative for strats. It all felt less comfortable, but I got used to 9.5 well enough. But, I learned on a 7.25 strat for 25 years before buying much else. So it was "home'. Now its back.

Bends: at 5/64ths action, at 14th and 15th frets, I can do easy bends 5 half steps on first 4 strings with no choking out at all. I can pull down 5 and 6 string 5 half steps also with no choking out. Maybe someone with 3/64ths action would be hindered.
Edit: lowering action to 4/64ths I did experience some entangling with bent string into string above, so I am about 4.5/64ths now and its playing great.

Pluck/strumming: I think the tighter arch of the strings lets one play to that arch, and offer easier targeting of1, 2 or 3 strings access, as the other strings arch away more quickly from your plane of strum.

Thumb-over playing: its better with 7.25 vs 9.5, IMO. I havent even rolled my fretboard edges on these new necks yet and its much nicer than with the 9.5 played in neck. And rolling over these 7.25 fb edges should make it way more comfortable, to boot. I wanted to wait and see if any string roll-off was in play before I rolled edges. There's been no roll-off, and I see plenty of real-estate to afford a good roll-over of fb edges.

Sweet sweet heaven. Which is lucky, cause I am just the sort of dumbass to go and buy 4-5 new necks before getting one strapped on for the confirmation test ride. Well, I remembered right.

The best deal I saw, and bought 3 of, where from the Stratosphere at 109$. The Allparts LRO necks are 7.25 and with taller (.047) frets. Tall frets should help the 7.25 not choke out during bends. I did accidentally buy one LRO-B neck which turned out to have shorter vintage frets.
I havent tried that one yet, but if it chokes easily, I'll put it on a slide strat where that tighter radius feels nice for isolating strings.

Thats it. I like it. I will now get 4 other strats set up w/ 7.25, and eventually sell the other 9.5 necks.

So I came into a bit of money and decided to treat myself to something on my GAS list. 2020 Fender Lead III from Sweetwater. I didn't take these pics, but they ARE of the actual guitar. I'm really loving this thing! I never really liked the idea of humbuckers in a Fender (except when I had one in the neck of my Tele) but this is kind of the best of both worlds between my Strats and my SG. Plays great, looks good, and sounds great. I just have to see how it sounds when recorded.

Semi-closed back 212 from a now-defunct semi-local boutique builder. Currently have the 'amp' of my Katana 50 combo butterfly-clipped to an output jack to play it. I need to find someone to cut me a piece of ply to seal the cab fully and a box to safely keep the Katana 50 in a head format, so far no luck on anyone that just does small wood cutting/jointing projects though. So far, I really like the cab, though I think I'll like it a touch better fully sealed. The bass is a smidge flubby right now. It's loaded with a pair of V30s.

Congrats. Thats very pretty and th body shape has grown on me over the years. I have one of the originals rw board, cherry stained ash body. Are the new ones ash? It looks like yours could be. I have the Single Coil model . It plays nice but I didnt like the X1 ? pickups much. I need to try them again.

He custom made it based on a few simple measurements and had it assembled and shipped very quickly (ordered 5/29). Very nicely made, and fits the Hilbish just right.
