So uhh, what kinda hangers y'all used or recommend or recommend to avoid?
I'm on a bit of a tight budget, but I really need to get my guitars up and out of the way and this seems like the best route.

String swings are kinda calling to me for a cheap way to go, saw a three-pack on amazon, and coincidentally I happen to need 3.

Hercules seem to be harder to find than I remember.

GuitarGrip has raised their prices significantly and seem to offer pretty much the exact same stuff they have for years, but damn they look great and I know they're reliable.

There's a ton on Amazon and sweetwater that I've never even heard of and just kinda look like some AliExpress specials. I'm pretty broke right now, but I'm not stupid and I'd rather my fiddles not fall from the wall lol.



Of course I'll post pics of my "office" once I get it done, we're still unpacking and settling everything in at the new place, but we're about 90% there.

I built a floor standing 9 ft wide guitar rack w/ 3 2x4's and 2 scraps of plywood as the upright ends, and a 1/2" dowel , for about 20$.
It takes up 2ft x 9ft of space, but is cheap and 25 guitars fit nicely....could be made half as wide for 12 guitars.
I'll try to take a pic this evening if it seems interesting.

The title made me think of too much celery in the diet.

I have a String Swing and a bunch of the ebay cheapies. The String Swing is great. Very solid, and I have no worries of the guitar falling because of the mount breaking. The cheapies are good, but they are the type with a plastic mount and steel tubing with foam padding that when the weight of the guitar is on it, it folds into the neck to hold it tight. The only issue is that I've had the plastic crack on a few. I like the design though, and I've often thought of making the mount out of wood to strengthen them.

Don't buy cheap ones, from AliExpress or Amazon. I had a Sg hanging and noticed that it started to bend the hanger. This kind had the arms held to the back with some kind of rivet. Sg is a light guitar too.

Made my own out of some leftover mahogany from the body of the guitar I’m hanging, but any wood would do.

Side by side rack is the only way to go if you have a lot. I've used a few budget model wall hanger type and they have been fine for years. Probably off amazon for about 5 but I dont remember the name. The 2 head holders kind of pivot or swing with a plastic base so they work well on teles even.

String Swings all the way. Love them.

Lol well you guys definitely answered that for me, looks like I'm gonna try and get a few string swings, probably just try to grab one here and there.

Right now I'm just trying to get my Vs and Agile on the wall, and the rest are safe and sound in my climate controlled storage unit. Thinking the LTD V401DX and 3100 next to each other on one wall, and then putting my DV8 on the wall next to my desk.

+ 1 on the string swings. It should be a given but make sure you screw into a stud, for my tastes I'd pick up a few longer deck screws to use.

I am happy with String Swing hangers.

I have string swings all over the house and love them. I also have a few cheaper string swing knockoffs from ebay or somewhere. They work just as well, but the wood isn't quite as nice. As a side note, if you screw the string swing into a stud, it is rock solid. Typical stud spacing is 16" on center, and that spacing is just right for guitars to sit side by side. It's almost like the wall is made for guitars.

I use string swing slat wall hangers.

My 4 main guitars go on String Swing standalone hangers. I do recommend them.
I've got 5 more guitars on this slat style hanger. The slat is a diamondLife hanger. It works, but it felt over priced seeing as I also had to order the hangers that go on it. I got these longer, angled String Swing holders so that they go over my acoustic treatment. Worked out well.
And I've got 2 String Swing horizontal holders for the basement. I have an empty one where my Agile Ghost used to sit. These are kinda pricey but are good for guitars you want to display.

@Rollin Hand I haven't seen those in so long I forgot about them lol.

I ended up ordering a string swing, popped that bad boy on a stud, so far so good, and looks good as hell.

Uhh, pics of the wall, hanger, and guitar in question. Plus bonus of the PC some collectibles, my steins, the lady's water bottle, and some extra guitars I haven't found a place for that's any better than that corner.

So I got to thinking, with the whole extreme price of GuitarGrips hangers now, and I really dig their style.
Since they're cast resin, with a nice finish. Would you say it's doable for a person to make their own resin-cast, super stylish, trustworthy guitar hanger?

Got half a dozen basic K&M hangers. Theywork fine and are cheap.

I have mostly these, too. Like I posted before, I like them, the only problem I've had is the plastic cracking where the steel tubing goes through. If the mount was wood, it would be much sturdier.

Are you using them for guitars?

One thing I always wonder: what about padding to keep the guitars from hitting the wall?

I saw some little rubber strips listed for this purpose, but I feel like a person could save some dough by just buying some rubber from the hardware store, or some foam and material and just make a pillow to mount to the wall behind the body.

That could work well.

Heck, even sticking a hunk of cut up camping mat to the wall would help.

One thing I always wonder: what about padding to keep the guitars from hitting the wall?

The guitars don’t touch the wall on these hangers and mine aren’t on walls where anyone is walking by so they don’t get bumped.

Yeah, I have two young kids, sooo.....padding likely required.
