Got this as a response to one of the guitars I have up on CL
Kinda reminds me of this Far Side:

Listen my friend. I just like it. Unless the set up is atrocious or something and it won't stay in tune...
But I have played these and I was impressed.

My first guitar was a tele way back in 83

(born in 71' so I was 12, I had to have one after my dad took me to see Stevie Ray Vaughan, back when he was still a virtual nobody, especially way up in Detroit Michigan where we lived. And I had a spiritual experience... Anyhow)

My favorite guitars live were Telecasters, studio Telecasters.. See a pattern. Well. Here I am in Portland Oregon, not by choice.

Year ago I was struck by car crossing the street and spent thirty days on the mend at hospital but in the meantime some Jack ass had stolen all, and I mean all my property, including pictures of my deceased mother.. Ya. Trust me I wanted to burn this city to the ground because nobody would help me. No phone, Id, cash, clothes, I don't anyone... After another month of self pity, I started working, while living homeless, then fucking covid...

I haven't had a guitar in all this time and I'm going nuts. I want this guitar, and it made me optimistic when you said you were not in any way desperate to still it...

Good. Would you hold the guitar in your property and let me pay you over the next couple weeks. I'd give you half. You hold it. Give you balance in two or three weeks. . I take guitar then. Yay nay.

You can check me out. Jack White my buddy just reissued a record of my bands 7" third man records The ***** my name is ***** *****. So I'm not yanking your leg... It's just been a real shitty hell... And without a guitar...I can't take it anymore.

Later
****** ******

It could be that it is all a lie, in which case I'd stay away.
Or it could be that it's all true, in which case I'd REALLY stay way! :D

SRV sold his Tele the year this dude claims to have been born, so I doubt he saw SRV in Detroit anywhere near 1983 and decided he wanted a Telecaster.

The first red flag I saw was in the thread title: It reads "CL Reply."

Listen my friend...
Only my good friends, mostly barristers and princes in Nigeria, call me that, so when a stranger does it, it really tingles me spidey senses

I'm going to vote nay.

I have to say that while Craigslist can be a bit spooky at times, it doesn't even hold a candle to armslist - which I had never really even ventured into but did recently. Sure- i see no problem with showing up with $500 cash at a highway rest stop to meet...and that's a pretty normal ad ;-) If nothing else it is pretty good entertainment late at night.

Just seeing so many words in a reply causes me to hit delete. If you want to type that much ask for my number & we can discuss.

You never know, but I have heard that some scammers intentionally use not-very-credible pitches. Why? Because if it were totally credible, they'd take more people in right away, but a larger proportion would subsequently realize something was wrong, and at best they'd lose those fish (after all, it does the scammer no good if you back out before they've collected anything from you) and at worst they'd get shut down more quickly. By using bad spelling and grammar, they pre-select for the dumbest users, who are likely to fall for it hook line and sinker.

I never heard about it or thought about it, but I am not surprised. That's a clever strategy.

The way that’s written sounds exactly the way my friend would talk, and write, when he was on some really, really bad drugs (heroin and other such stuff).

Tell him to ask his friend Jack White to front him the money. Call you back when he has it all.
