Be sure to let us know how it is! I have an older Xaviere that I really love, but I haven't heard much about their newer stuff.

Note: GC had this listed as a Vintage Modified bass, at a price of $159.

I'll leave my observations below after the following:

Pros:
 • Turns out it's a actually a 2020 Classic Vibe Jag bass
Poor packing job aside, that's very cool. That's the 32" scale version, right?

Update: I called the store, chastised them for the poor packing job, and asked them to make it right. They're refunding me $30 (plus $1.94 in tax), which they said is the price of their standard line of replacement tuners. I'm happy with that.

The seller real-sonicake on ebay. I had a few on my watch list and was trying to negotiate with a few other sellers on ebay and reverb to get a better price after a few on this forum said they got theirs for about $27 shipping included. I couldn't get anyone to get down that low, but real-sonicake sent me an offer for $5 + $5 shipping, so of course I jumped on that! I was worried it would be used/damaged/incomplete/refurbished, but as far as I could tell, it was brand new in box and works just fine!

My last gear purchase was a Joyo Analog Delay. I got it because I was about to start gigging with a great singer I'd met. Covid put a stop to that before we got started. :(

Nice, inexpensive pedal though. I've enjoyed it.

I picked up one of these from a Reverb account that appears to be someone who works at Walrus Audio based on the address:

I bought this because I was a fan of the movie War Games which this seems to reference:

I didn't really know who Ryan Adams was unit I looked him up. But I do like EQ pedals and this is a damn good one with cool graphics so...

Two DAW Plug-ins from Neural DSP:

Archetype Nolly

Archetype Abasi - Very heavy on the bass

Will report back when I have had chance to play some!

EDIT: First impressions of Nolly - WOW WOW WOW! There's also a 50% off using LASTCHANCE50 as the code, for the next 4 hours.

So I ordered this online last night to pick up in-store today...
Do I need another amp? No.
Did I have some extra tax refund money and narrowly miss out on a $500, brand-new Fender 65 Twin Reverb reissue so I didn't mind spending money that I had already spent psychologically? Yes.

I picked up a Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 in Purple Burst. It's Mexican but the thing plays absolutely great! Alder body, and loaded with really nice SD's SH-10B and Jazz (seems a good combo). I might have have posted a latest gear post on the other forum that shall not be named, don't recall, but I've hardly played it because I haven't set it up yet (too many other projects) because the strings are stock and give off that black residue (I played it like 2 mins when I detected it, so I didn't ruin the FB), gotta prep and protect the nice maple FB first. So it's still brand new to me (effing ridiculous, bought this damn thing in March). I might flip it, it's a lot darker than than the pic shows, almost black (which I've heard from other people). What the hell...

I had one of those! You won't be disappointed. I bought a purple one with a floyd and a maple neck, sent the thing back (had to fight with them) because the freakin' maple fretboard turked grayish from the strings spewing the dreaded black residue on it - after only it a few minutes. They said the maple fretboard ones were supposed to be protected, I didn't take the chance to buy another one, but I liked the guitar (even though it suffered from FWP syndrome).

I picked up a Kirn locally off of someone on TGP:
This guitar was built from Eastern White Pine reclaimed from the Globe Grain Elevator in Wisconsin. The elevator opened in 1887 so the wood was harvested sometime in the years leading up to that, making it at least 133 years old. Unlike Loblolly pine used in many guitars which can be very heavy, this guitar is an absolutely feather-weight. In fact, it’s easily the lightest solid body electric guitar that I’ve ever owned and I show just a tick over 6lb on my hand scale designed to weigh luggage. My other Tele is right around 7lb, and the Kirn makes it feel heavy! This is certainly the oldest wood that I’ve owned in a guitar and the guitar is incredibly open and resonant with great sustain. Ron’s instruments receive lots of praise, and I can see why. It rings like a bell and sounds fantastic. The specific pine chosen for this guitar displays lots of character. There are knots, streaks, and nail holes that Ron fills in with some kind of resin. The nail holes are my favorite - you can see into the resin a bit and look into the holes. Very cool!

When I bought the guitar, it had a humbucker in the neck position. I tried to get along with it, but couldn’t find a balance between it and the wonderful Ron Kirn bridge pickup that I could live with. The humbucker has been removed and replaced with a K-Line Signature T pickup that is a wonderful match for this guitar, in my opinion. I took the guitar to Chris Kroenlein of K-Line Guitars and asked him to play and listen to the guitar and recommend a neck pickup based on what he heard. He suggested a slightly overwound Signature T. He custom wound the pickup the same day and installed it into the Kirn for me (Thanks, Chris!). He nailed it - the neck pickup is gorgeous and balances with the wonderful Kirn bridge pickup perfectly. Chris also did a mild setup on the guitar and gave it a clean bill of health, so it’s all ready to go for the next owner.

Being soft pine, the guitar does have its share of nicks and scratches. I wouldn’t consider any of them major and they certainly don’t effect the structural integrity or playability of the instrument. Further more, due to the wonderful character of the pine and Ron’s matte nitro cellulose finish, these are difficult to see. If these may bother you, I’m happy to do an in-hand review of the instrument over the phone and will be as thorough as possible.

Overall, this is a wonderful interpretation of a T-style guitar from a master builder at an amazing price. This guitar easily competes with any Custom Shop F that I’ve ever played, but costs significantly less. The guitar will ship in its original TKL semi-soft foam case. These cases are great - they are very protective but weight next to nothing. Between this case and the 6 lb guitar, I guarantee that most people would guess that the case was empty upon picking it up with the guitar in it. This is the perfect gigging guitar for those with bad backs.

I think I slightly prefer my other Kirn tone wise as it's got a more acoustic like feel to it and some insane wood grain from the Paulownia. But they're both great guitars. I know andrewsrea loves the Kirn necks.

the second item for my upcoming build project

Stonewall loaded "fat" jazzmaster pickguard. Scott (Stonewall) was very helpful, responsive and prompt getting this thing together and shipped to me. It looks smokin'. Very clean wiring. Can't wait to hear it!

Got a new (used) bass amp, the Gallien-Krueger MB200. It's much more size- and weight-appropriate to a fourth-floor NYC walkup apartment than my old amp! Sounds good and the aux in and headphone outputs are really nice for practice. My only gripes are that I sort of wish it had separate gain and master volume controls, and it's so small that it's almost toylike, but it is solidly made. Fury thinks the old one makes a better scratching post, though.

It came in on Monday. The fit and finish are great. It was put in the clearance section because of a scratch on the back of the neck at the 12th fret. The Cruchy Pats sound really good. I don't see a need to change anything on this one. The pickups are definitely miles ahead of the ones on my Firefly LP.

Not worth a pic, but I just got a pair of replacement rubber rings to go on the Sure Grip II speed knobs on my Ibanez bass rebuild. One was missing, and you pay a premium for a set of those complete knobs—lucked out on finding Repro Guitar Parts www.reproguitarparts.com. Good price and very fast response, nice inventory …

Thanks for mentioning that site, BTW. I don't think I need anything from them right now, but I'll definitely keep them in mind. I wonder if they're interested in making some repro Fender Japan knobs - some of those are going for something like $55 for a single knob on Reverb now.

Until things go back to normal I'm being very conservative on any big non-essential purchases.
