That's funny, I found one of those at a local thrift store a while back. They almost never carry any music stuff, so I kind of had to grab it on principle (not sure what the principle was, other than "I will buy stupid crap I don't need if the price is right" ) If you're a big pedal-stepping kind of player, I could see it being very handy.

I love this thing wish I would have gotten one sooner. Being able to turn on/off multiple pedals at the same time is fun and very useful.

I'm going to just put 2 or 3 birchwood-cassey tru-oil coats on it and leave it fairly raw. Same for the maple neck w/ rosewood. Just enough to close up the pores and leave a thin layer.
After playing a few open pore acoustics maybe don't clog those "tone pores"

Just got a new firefly 338 spalted. I threatened early on that if they came up with a pretty one for not too much upcharge I'd bite.
So far I'm very impressed. For $200 shipped I'm crazy impressed. Got me thinking I can sell off my dot studio and my johnson jazz box I just don't use much.

I've been playing the GC roulette and had various things cancelled a few times - because their inventory isn't updated in real time. This time they haven't cancelled the order since yesterday, so there's a chance that I'm getting this. Purportedly a 2012 Squier Classic Vibe 60's Jazzmaster. In my favorite color scheme for a JM. We'll see...

I just bought this on sale at Adorama.

Image

They've had this deal before. Since I'm in a state that doesn't collect sales tax I'll get it a few hundred lower than most people. If I don't like it, I'd be surprised if I couldn't sell it locally in cash for what I paid for it (if outside of the return window).

I also bought a 96 Custom 22 10 top 1 week+ ago that I haven't taken pictures of. I got a pretty good deal but like all guitars I buy from Mike (local guy dude in cover band) it's a bit beat up.

It’s an early 80s D’Agostino, made in Japan. Scored it for $150. Thread is here :)

The last in my recent influx of boss pedals. this is a WEIRD one. PS-2 Pitch Shifter/Delay

this pedal has 6 modes:

1. 125ms delay
2. 500ms delay
3. 2s delay
4. manual pitch shift
5. +1 octave
6. -1 octave

the first knob (balance) is basically a mix knob that goes from dry signal only to effect only
second knob is feedback for the delay
third knob (fine/manual) controls the delay rate and the octave in mode 4

with the delays you can go from quick slapback to the full 2 sec repeats with everything in between via the fine knob. with the feedback at 9'oclock you get into self-oscillation for seemingly infinite repeats. you can actually get into looper style territory.

the octave up and downs are not the best sounding by modern standards - very sort of robotic and artificial. but certainly useable. the manual mode is a bit of an enigma outside of pure noisemaking.

this pedal has a unique character. everything sounds a little off somehow. the delay especially has a distinctive ambience about it.

with the ps-3 boss went for a much cleaner organic sounding pitch shifter, and i can understand why. the ps-2 doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me on paper. and yet it's fascinatingly oddball and a lot fun. it will be interesting to see if i can actually find a lot of use for it. for now, it's the wild card on my board.

this is the video that really sold me on this one and it illustrates its capabilities well.

Bought this wireless setup on Amazon for $20, with a $10 coupon. It works great. I don’t expect the batteries to last years but will be interested to see how long it works

It got here about a week ago. Great guitar for $179 shipped.

Remember to start with the volume and tone controls all on 10, and then turn down only if absolutely necessary!

I've only gotten it up to 5 so far - had no desire to go beyond that at the time
i don't think i'll ever hear this thing naturally distort
i think they start to break up around 7 or 8

It depends on the pickup output, but you should start to get some natural breakup starting in the 6-7 range with vintage humbuckers or hot single coils. I actually often run mine dimed (volume, not tone!) but roll back the guitar volume. That said, I also typically run on just two power tubes to bring it down to 40 watts, and then I use a little attenuation to tame it further.

If you want to try lower power, you can pull either the inner pair or outer pair of power tubes. Just don’t hook up an external cab in parallel at the same time you do that as your impedance mismatch will get out of range. It’s still damn loud, but more manageable and a lot less work and heat for an attenuator if you use one.

Vox AC15 to go with its brother the AC4. $300 so why not. It’s a jangly booger. And it can get very loud.
