Was doing some recording and wasn’t sure how to get the sound I was looking for. This Vantage VP795 has two MMK45 pickups with coil split and out of phase. It can get many different tones so when I’m searching this is my go to.

It’s Monte night so of course rhe Yairi DY62C. This one is always on the stand in the living room so it gets played every day, not just today.

Sweet one Kerry! Always really liked these old Mastsumoku guitars, had a bunch of Arias in the past and a couple of Vantages as well. Very high quality instruments on the cheap.Kerry Brown wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 10:50 pm Was doing some recording and wasn’t sure how to get the sound I was looking for. "Old military PA amp converted for guitar...."Kerry Brown wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 10:09 am I've mostly been playing acoustic stuff. Yesterday I decided to play electric. This is my Gibson three knob special. I played it through an old military PA amp converted for guitar through a Blackstar 1x12 cab with an Emminence P50E speaker.

Now, THERE'S some great thread material for the amp section.
The people need to read and see more about this.
At least, I do.

What's that one? An old JB Player? I like.

I actually bought it "new" from a Sears Surplus store in 1987/88. It was missing the middle pickup and a fine tuner so I got it for $70.
Played my J15 last night with my trio. We are rehearsing for a gig on the 14th of August (fingers crossed!).
I keep the Recording King close by for whenever inpsiration strikes. It's been getting a lot of play time lately.

No, I think Cyfan4036 had a NGD where he mentioned that model. I didn't know who Lincoln Brewster was but when I looked up the specs I knew I'd buy it if I every found a good deal (which I did on a beat up one from Mike). I don't plan to sell it (unless I can get one in better condition).andrewsrea wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 12:04 pmDid you get that from @golem ? I think he has / had one just like it.

It was these two last night.
I've been having a rough time getting the Agile to play nicely with others. I really like the DiMarzios, but I'm not convinced they like that Agile. Last night I used it strictly for rhythm and bassier tones and played the homemade guitar (Railhammer Huevos 90) over it with all it's low frequencies rolled down pretty far. I doubled/panned/offset those tracks and with a little fuckery it sounds nice and phat and hugely. But now, the midrange where they live is now a bit crowded and is overpowering other aspects of that track - but I love the tone I got so much.
As far as recording anything is concerned - both of these guitars were useless to me until last night.
Now it's a choice: Keep that setup/tone in my back pocket for a different track? Delete other elements to use the tone in current track without making a mess? Rewrite the whole damned thing?
