I've been interested in these for a while, and since Fender stopped production they're more expensive used than when they were new. I just happened to look on GC Used about 30 min ago and found one for sale for $159! They hadn't even put the photos up yet. I immediately called the store and talked to the guitar dept guy and he said he just took the photos and was getting ready to post them. He said he was playing it a bit, it's super clean, and he thought it was really nice. I couldn't whip out my GC card fast enough. 8-)

Those are pretty nice - I had one for a while, and I sold it to get a full-scale bass, but I still miss it.

We all loved this when he got it. It even had a little flame that would show through now and then. He was on pins and needles when he ordered it but he wouldn't tell us what he ordered and it was backordered for a few weeks. When he finally got it we were all impressed.

I like that color. I forgot to mention mine is vintage sunburst. I honestly haven't even seen it yet because all I needed to see was the price and hear that it was in such nice condition. I'll follow up when I receive it. 8-)

Did you get it yet?

I tried to talk my best friend into selling me his Squier Vintage Modified Jazz bass last week. He never plays it, but did not want to sell it.

I am going to sell my Tobias Toby Pro 6 to get one.

I did. I think I put up pics in a NBD post around here somewhere.

Turns out it's not from the Vintage Modified series. It's a Classic Vibe! It's very nice and I dig it. It arrived with a broken tuner and GC gave me $30 back. Other than that it's basically mint. It feels really good in the hands. I ordered the tuner and it arrived but I'm recovering from surgery so I haven't been able to work on it. I say go for it dude!

How does it sound with the 'P-J' pickup config? It has been a while since I played one like that.

I haven't been able to play it yet since I can't currently tune it. I specifically wanted the PJ configuration so I could have both tonal options. I'll try and keep you updated once I have it playable.

Classic Vibe > Vintage Modified

Congratulations!

I have a soft spot for Jaguar-style basses. I just posted a couple of pics of my #1 in another thread:

I also have another Jaguar bass in surf green, but I haven't taken any pics of it yet.
Finally escaping the People's Republic of Kalifornia!

That is just awesome, of course! I like block inlays on those jaguar and jazz style basses!

I finally got around to taking a pic of my Jaguar style basses. This looks like a good place to share them.

So do these tend to have a neck dive compared to precisions and jazzes?

Yeah, they have more of a tendency, but with my leather straps that are slightly suede on the back, it's not severe. Of course, however, YMMV.
