There are now two spectacular free amp profilers available to everyone that rival Kemper/Quad Cortex and Axe.
Take a look at Tonocracy and NAM.

Yep, just saw something about those somewhere as well. Thanks for the reminder, will have to check them out for sure! Although between my GX-100 and Neural Plini as well as Amplitube 5 I don't have any need for new sounds, it's always interesting to see if they come up with new features I could use OR look for.

Namely the thing that currently bugs me about my modeling gear is the too slow change between sounds. Going from clean to drive for instance always takes like a quarter second or whatever, anyway always just long enough to lose one note or chord during the change, forcing me to always change patch at the last note of previous part basically and it drives me nuts. I would really like INSTANT sound changes but I suppose the only way I can battle it is use a single model and then volume/gain changes via MIDI controllers for seamless changes.

...and I can already report on this more, just spent a while putting the Toneocracy modeler thru a test.

The sound is really good. Right up there with Neural and others indeed. There's nicely low noise to driven sounds even without a gate, which is a clear plus in comparison with the competition. Also I immediately noticed there's quite a natural attack, ie the pick hit on string isn't quite as plingy/pronounced as on Neural - something I've battled heavily for a long long time.

So soundwise, no complaints and would love to test this further in my rig.

BUT. No midi control whatsoever? I need to Look into whether it'd be possible to control it via MIDI thru a VST host, but even if that is possible, it will certainly create more lag for preset switching.

Another annoying detail is, the standalone grabs the whole PCs audio so can't play along with YouTube and such.

Nevertheless, this will surely find use as a VST for reamping guitars. But looks like it can't really be used like Amplitube or Neural as a proper standalone amp in a band setting.

Please let me know if there's a workaround to get MIDI control for it etc....will keep looking as this IS promising for sound.

I am on a Mac, and it allows me to play along to youtube or any other sound just fine. As for the quality of the sounds, it's on par with any of the top modelers on the market. It sounds just as good as the Quad Cortex, FM9, or Kemper. Add on the fact that it's free now, and it's a no brainer.
It can use NAM files, and the capture technology works so well that it's been out of only a month and there are already dozens of free profiles available for download that sound amazing.

Yep I heard that about working better as standalone in macs. It's odd because every other modeler works fine for me like that on PC as well, but not this one.

If it only had MIDI support ...
