I had a tweed tube Bassman that I purchased from a music store in Georgia near Atlanta in 2004 or 5. I was up there evacuating from a hurricane. Two things, way too much amp for a bar band and second it was heavy as hell. I have to say it was one fantastic sounding Fender amp though. This version should be lighter for sure. A friend has the Deluxe version and it is super light.

Edit: Just looked it up and it weighs 32 lbs. It has four speakers and weighs less than my 1x12 combo.

You had the "BackBreaker" Bassman, a name Fender has since capitalized on with the "BassBreaker" amps

My honest opinion . . .

It's a digital amp.

The majority of sound men today are going to want you to go XLR out on this thing, therefore bypassing the projection, perceived volume, and organic tone one gains through pushing a quad of speakers through an acousticlaly tuned pine cabinet . . . which are some of the fundamental reasons why you'd even want to use an amp like this in the first place.

This amp may turn out to be for Fender what the robot tuner guitars were for Gibson.

Just put a piece of tape over the XLR port, remove the badge and tell them it's a bassman and you need a mic

Agreed, to a point.

I was speaking with a bar owner this weekend. He told me that, in his perfect world, musicians would come in with a floor rig with an XLR out. He could do all of the mixing from the desk. He also understands that amps are not going anywhere, though. The XLR thing just makes his life easier.

The Tonemaster series looks fun to practice and record with. I have a Quilter Superblock US, which can model a Bassman. Whether it does a good job or not I don't know because I've never heard a Bassman live and I probably couldn't tell the difference anyway.

I do want to say this: Noodling around on a guitar tells me nothing about an amp, guitar or pedal. I need some music to put things in context. That said, YouTube vids, with all of the eq-ing and compression, can make even the most basic of gear turn into a wall of sound.

I see more and more guitarists playing through a floor rig, mostly the Line 6 thingy. It makes me think I am old. I have to admit they sound pretty damn good too. Makes me wonder why I still lug and amp and a backup amp to gigs. Then I realize I know exactly how to get the sound I want out of my amp and I have no idea how to get that sound out of a floor rig. I suppose someone could show me. I had an ME30 back in the day but it was just Boss pedals in one unit. The whole bank thing drove me nuts.
