If you haven't tried the INCREDIBLE value Ampeg Reverberockets from the early 90's then you're missing out! I bought mine for $300, with an upgraded Celestion A type speaker, and it is amazing! I've never played a Fender amp that is this Fender-y...can I say that? And the higher gain channel is beautiful as well! It covers everything save heavy metal. Do yourself a favor and try one if you see one. No other amp in its price point can beat it, imo. The reverb is sublime and the glassy tones are a benchmark! Rich, warm, smooth, cutting, harmonic...whatever other superlatives that I can't think of right now. I want another just in case this one goes out. Which it gives No indications that it is/will. No amp GAS since I bought this one. Equally at home with my Strat as it is with my PRS.

Ampeg is my #1 go to tied with a Vox AC10C1. I have a Jet J12T and a Super Jet on loan to my son. I also have a 1967 Ampeg Gemini II. Great undervalued amps and yes IMO they out Fender Fender.

I once bought a VERY old tube amp that had drying out oil/paper capacitors and wasn't economical to repair (as I recall it). Not knowing the full history of a line it would be helpful to know if there's anything to look out for.

P.S. I also like the vintage-y look on these.

I think [mention]andrewsrea[/mention] told me as much. Some of the people at Ampeg knew what they were doing. I know Obeid Khan worked there and later designed all the amps for Reason and designed or consulted on some of the amps for Magnatone (well he still does but I don't quite understand the depth of his current involvement).

Hey it’s good to see you arrived! Welcome back . I just wanted to give a blurb about vintage amps. Maintaining these treasures can sometimes be like taking care of an antique car. They give you joy more than any return in investment often. That’s not to say amps have to be expensive to repair though. There is a variety of parts choices available both on quality and cost, new or sometimes vintage. Amp techs don’t have to be expensive either. Sometimes people do it for practically nothing, or a a very reasonable bench rate. Call it a labor of love

Anyways, I love old ampeg amps and have 2 of my own from the mid 60s. I’ll admit that I’m biased to the vintage Ampeg amps for many reasons. If I were looking for a reverberocket, it would be an early 60s with 6v6 or 7591 power tubes.

Thank you, Jimy. I am friends with a guy who is a pro electronics engineer and to him soldering is like playing to one of us. Unfortunately he's not a musician. So with a schematic he can likely diagnose and fix almost anything, but for some of the more specific stuff I might need to do the homework. I imagine that techs who have nothing to do with music/audio probably chuckle at P2P wiring, tubes, vintage type caps and whatever else doesn't technically make sense these days.

It seems like past sales of these have been more around 500-600. This seller reaching for $1500 based on it being USA made and in perfect condition is a bit of a reach. I’d say it’s worth half that with no original box . But $360 is pretty easy on the wallet for {100} watts of scream. If it really has vintage 30s then it’s a no brainer

Well, here's the thing... there is also a reverbrocket 2x12 on marketplace and he has it listed for $450 so I inquired about it. Is the Ampeg Super Rocket SR-212RT 2x12 the same amp just without reverb?
