Picked this up on Amazon. I posted in another thread that I was hoping for three things with this guitar.
1. It arrived intact. 2. No neck dive. and 3. A chunky neck. Well I got 1.5 out of 3 on this one.
The guitar arrived with no issues. It's described as TV Yellow but I'd say it's a bit more on the mustard yellow side of that. Not that it looks bad - I actually like the color. The fretboard is kind of interesting - it has no markers on the fretboard. There are fret markers on the side of the neck however they are very small and difficult to see. I'm not sure the fretboard is real wood - The specs say it's basswood (never heard of that as a fretboard material) it almost feels like some sort of laminate but I'm not sure. The tuners are just ok - one of them was missing the back cover of the tuner. The neck is wide at the nut (44mm), which I like, and a little chunky - but not as much as I hoped. No fret sprout or sharp fret ends.
The set up on the guitar wasn't half bad - and was pretty playable out of the box. The guitar is extremely light- I haven't weighed but I'm thinking it's in the 6lb range. The bad news - the guitar is extremely light - and has terrible neck dive. I tried a wider leather/suede strap and even though that helped - the neck feels like it's fighting me. It has dime sized pots.
I'm not sure this guitar is a keeper. It's worth it's low price of $140 on Amazon - but I'm not sure it's for me. The IYV Mosrite copy I had was a better made guitar. I'll give it some amp time this weekend and decide in the couple days if it's going back. Here's a few pictures.
