This is actually a little premature because I'm only just about to go trade my Charvel for a Chapman Explorer type.

I'm just posting it now, because any minute now I won't be able to access AGF any more since using Gmail for login is disallowed now, and it's the only email I've had for 20 years and never will have another, especially a paid one, just for using for one forum. I use Google everything from my photos to classroom and whatnot. Never will get some iffy, small paid email address or service I can't trust.

Anyway, it's like this;

And the Charvel I'm trading it for is the red one.

The Charvel is probably worth more, And at 30+ years old it's a superb guitar indeed. Made in Japan, the woods are as good as they come. Perfect SS frets too. Should only appreciate in value.

But alas, I don't play strat types. Just can't. Too difficult to play seated, and way too difficult to adjust from Gibson styles both for neck shape and stance. So I'll do the swap. Besides the Chapman is pretty as a baby pig.ImageImage

Good luck with the trade - I'll admit I really dig that Charvel, but I also like the Chapman. Hopefully you get to a solution with the whole email/log in thing.

Red. That's all that matters. Does look nice.

CMX-DLX. Japan circa '98 I believe, mostly were only available there.

OK now proper introduction of the new axe...

So indeed I traded that red Charvel I fixed up nice for this 2019 Chapman Ghostfret.

So far loving it. The feel and stance is the same as on my Dean V's, perhaps a little wider fretboard at body end. Very similar neck, fits me like a glove. I really like that the body looks like an explorer but is significantly smaller. Doesn't look like a canoe on me.

It's a very nice quality Korean guitar. Mahogany and maple, neck thru with several strips to keep it stable. Has coil split pull up tone, locking tuners and many little things improving on the basic Explorer.

The pickups are really really hot, but have lots of clarity too. Actually sound effin good so I don't know if I should put in my preference 498/490 set at all, I'll have to play with the band for a while to know.

The only downsides are it is a little heavier than vees, not by much but noticeably anyway, and it's slightly neck heavy, so I already have plastic tuner buttons ordered. Maybe that'll be enough, even without a strap with more friction.ImageImageImageImage

I'm captivated by the Chapman line. I'd really like a Ghostfret myself, or one of those sick modern teles. Congratulations - that thing is beautiful.

It is very nice, a little heavy due to so much maple, but a joy to play.
