It's been a long time since I picked up any new gear. I've been contemplating these ever since they came out. I finally pulled the trigger on a black one.

My only complaint so far is that came with a (nicer) soft case in stead of a hard shell case.

Very nice, my "go to" acoustic for gigging has been a Taylor Academy 10e for quite some time now. Although, that may change for the gig this week. I am contemplating going back to my Takamine Sante Fe. I am starting to fall out of love with the pickup system in the Taylor. It is powered by those 1032 nickel sized batteries and they do not last long at all. I unplug it when not in use and it still needs new ones all the time. The Tak is powered by a 9V and it seems to last much longer if I make sure to unplug it when not in use. I will not buy another guitar that uses those batteries.

I love the black finish on the your new acoustic. Congrats!

That Santa Fe is a great guitar too. I almost picked one up a few years ago.

This Taylor has the ES 2 pickup system. It uses a 9V battery. I’ll bet you do go through quite a few batteries.

I normally play my D28 live but when we have our 3rd guitar player show up (he live about 1.5 hours away and doesn’t make all the gigs), he plays a D28 as well. This should sit a bit different in the mix. Not that anyone but us on the stage will notice. Haha.

I used my Tak Sante Fe at the gig Thursday and should have taken a little more time to EQ during the sound check. The channel has been tweaked for the Taylor over the last couple of years and the Tak sounded a little thin with the settings. I tried to use the guitar EQ to correct it but never got it just right. I only use the Acoustic on about 6-7 songs or so. I think I may continue to leave the Tak in "gig retirement". I have another acoustic that uses 9volt batteries that I like a lot too.
