NGD 2X Ibanez AM93ME-NT & PRS SE Paul's Guitar

I finally decided the PRS SE 24-08 wasn't for me and managed to sell it after almost an hour on craigslist to the same guy who bought my PRS SE Custom 22 nine years ago.
So with money burning a hole in my pocket I searched Dave's Guitar and my jaw hit the floor it's a 2019 Ibanez AM93ME-NT in excellent condition, A smaller bodied semi like an ES-339 with choice woods sounded great.
It took literally 2 mins from starting to search to purchasing it which is not always the best idea but it was Purdy!
UPS delivered it to someone else's house of course. I'm sadly getting used to that when I buy guitars. I have an Ibanez AS73 that was the first year they started making them with Linden instead of Maple for the body, Nyatoh instead of Mahogany neck and Walnut instead Rosewood for the fretboard.
I have tried many different sets of pickups but it always sound very bright and thin with no bass, and it feels like its made of Balsa wood so I've wanted a replacement Semi-hollow with more traditional woods and I've never even seen a guitar here with an Ebony fretboard so I got a little giddy when I saw that beautiful Macassar Ebony body and the promise of Alnico iii Super 58s.
Unboxed it and the case has seen some wear with a gouge and sticker residue but opening it up and this thing must have been closed since 2019 because it smelled super musty and woody but it is a spotlessly brand new guitar and had all the original case candy.
My first thought was maybe it was one the usual suspects here that buy so many guitars that it got forgotten about but I realized they wouldn't sell a guitar from the horde. I hoped it would sound great but strumming it I was rewarded with a lovely semi acoustic sound and plugged in a warm jazz tone could be had easily.
10 mins in I started having nerve pain and respiratory difficulty, trying again 6 hrs later same story. I have issues with allergies and feared it must be a reaction to Ebony. I know what you're going to say "Patience Grasshopper" but I'm impatient! Lol
So up on Craigslist it went and back to Dave's site I did go and they got in a PRS SE Paul's Guitar in amber, so while waiting a week for it to arrive I gloved and respirator upped and cleaned it up and put a Walmart Mainstays charcoal closet tub in the case and it took 2 days till the case smelled no more.
I have a case that came with my Cat pee soaked Telecaster that has been airing out open for over a year that still smells as strong as when I got it so I wrapped it in a big bag with one of these and it's massivly better now. Highly recommend them.
So the Paul's gets here to my actual address and since it has the same pickups as my 24-08 I hoped that 22 frets and hardtail and chunky neck would make a difference but its much worse, the split tones are nice but full humbucking is really muddy.
The Paul's neck is said to be thicker than a wide fat at 23mm 1st and 25.5mm 12th but this one is 21.5mm and 23mm and felt like a Customs wide thin profile so somebody got a little overzealous sanding this neck at the factory.
So onto Craigslist it does go, and after cleaning and airing out the Ibanez It no longer causes any problems so yeah I need to work on patience. Plugging it in it is impossible to find a bad tone with these Super 58s it actually sounds much better through a gained Mesa Rectifier patch than anything else I have and it actually Chugs great this is now my goto Thrash Metal guitar I kid you not.
The pickups measure 7.5k so that should be right for A3 Super 58s but they are amazing sounding and of course sound brilliant clean and crunchy too. Ibanez killed it with this one.
