In attempting to accurately recollect exactly how many years ago it was that @tonebender sent me this loaded Hohner Telecaster body (minus the bridge), I am reminded of how quickly time passes. It has been quite a few years.
Whenever it was, after attaching a Fender Tele neck I recorded this short instrumental piece. I do remember that the pickups are not true Fender wide range, but are ceramic magnet humbuckers. Regardless, I think I got some pretty good tones out of this thing.
I never uploaded this audio on YouTube until now and thought I'd share.

Man, I forgot all about that guitar. When I clicked on the post I saw the pic in the video still and thought to myself I used to have one of those. I do not even remember sending it to you. I do not remember the story on it either, I think I got it from a friend and the neck was a little chunky. I had the Fender two hum Tele too back then.
It sounds very bluesy for sure. I think the headstock logo was abalone inlay.

You made a post saying, "Anybody want a loaded Hohner Telecaster Custom body for free?" When I got the box my cats spent an incredibly long time sniffing it. They must have smelled your cats.
So you don't remember what happened to the original neck?

I do remember! The neck had a broken truss rod. It was a little chunky but a really sweet neck if it wasn't broken. IIRC the Hohner logo on the headstock was abalone.

I'd say that guitar is probably early 80's.There are lots of images on the web of those babies. I remember now where I got it too. A friend I still play golf with gave it to me. I was super exited about it until I got it home and found out about the truss rod. Thanks for posting this I had forgotten all about it and I enjoy remembering stuff like this. It will make a great story for the gig tonight. My band mate knows the guy that gave it to me.

That body is plywood. But 80s Japanese plywood, so it's got tone.

Yes, everyone knows that 80's Japanese plywood is some of the best tone producing plywood ever used to make guitars. LOL As we know from that video where the guy used the same pickup and amp but sounded the exact same no matter what the body was made of, wood, metal and even when he stretched the strings out between a nut and a bridge with nothing in between then suspended the pickup just below the strings. He sounded the same each time. That video convinced me that it's the pup and and the amp, and the guitar material matters not. Prince's infamous Tele was a Hohner Mad Cat.

I didnt. I think I replied just after tmc.
I was just thinking about that guitar the other day. It still haunts me. I'm sure it gets used better from his playing than me & mine.
