Original #2 from sabasgr68 – In Front of a Gun Again (based on true events)

This is a simple song of what happens in life sometimes. My son got robbed about ten days ago. He wasn´t hurt or anything, thank God; the loss was material, but he was in front of a gun again - pointing at his stomach -, as the song title says, for a fourth time. This is his second time on a bus.
After I overcame the first impact, two days later, that phrase came to my mind – in English; yes, I tend to think a lot in English-, I though “…in front of a gun again…”, and then it began taking the shape of a song.
So here it is, a scary story told with simple lyrics and simple chords, and a rather long – that´s how I like it, sorry guys – but simple solo.
You´re born again when you´re still in one piece after being in front of a gun, gents.
Fender Mustang 1 v1 amp.
Four guitar tracks (all with the AL3000):
- Base rhythm throughout all the song,
- Fills, second rhythm before solo, and final “rhythm solo”,
- Main solo (with Touch Wah effect),
- Bass line (with a modified preset), lowered one octave down with Audacity, and some EQ done.
Drum track made with Hydrogen – took me a while to do it; around 5-6 hours for a +5 minute track
Audacity.
I don´t sing well. I did some adjustments to the vocal recording – compression, normalization, and EQ -, and minor additions. First time I record a song and sing, so I did my best to come with a decent mix with my resources (I know it can be bettered a lot). I can´t sing LOUD here at home, so that was an issue too, singing at low volume.
Solo starts at 2:46.
No more chit chat, hope you like it and hope you end up moving your feet at the beat of the song.
Here´s the lyrics in case it is not all clear (there might be some grammar errors ) Scroll down for the Soundcloud link
** Hey, guys, I must add that, same as in the other times, this wasn´t just an "unpleaseant" thing that happened. It´s not something we´d like to go through again. I actually thought on posting a thread about it, just to vent it out with you, but finally decided to only post about the song and just mentioning the event as the background that triggered the inspiration, but not making it the subject of the thread. Writing this song about it was actually therapeutic, and, aside of my Faith, helped dealing with it somehow. **
In front of a gun again
In front of a gun again
Your life in a blink, your eyes just standing still
Time freezes up and yet it´s going fast
A scream trapped inside, you think “Oh, not again”
In front of a gun again
In front of a gun again
Afraid of that hand that has my breath of life
Wondering if my book is gonna close
On all of my dreams and all the ones I love
In front of a gun again
In front of a gun again
In front of a gun again
Ten seconds later and I ask myself
Was this for real or was it just a dream
It´s hard to believe, you force yourself to see
You´re there in one piece, your life is yours to keep
In front of a gun again
Thanks be to God, I made it this time
Can´t wait to go home and see the love in your eyes
But the shaking is coming, there´s no more left to say
I was born for a fourth time
In front of a gun again
In front of a gun again
In front of a gun again...
PS: No vocals track below
