1) By the time I found the sweet spot on my low-watt amp, it was too loud.
2) I've never been happy with my bridge pickup.
Let's start with no. 1...
After listing to your suggestions, doing some YouTube deep dives (worthless) and making a call to Weber, I purchased a DT10. It took awhile to get here because they build them one at a time by hand. I didn't know that. I asked for it to be "broken in" which they did. They also suggested playing it 12-24 hours to finish the job. Besides playing during my free time, I piped some guitar rock through the amp at a reasonable volume to help move things along.
No. 2. The Pick-ups
@andrewsrea (Rob) from AMI and I had a great conversation which led to the purchase of a set of "Greenies." I had a tech drop them in this morning (I have no skilz) and then ran home to try them out. The pickups got me the rest of the way "there" (28% if you're doing the math). What were uninspired, muddled mids are now crisp, clear, well-rounded notes. I love it.

This one is a comparison of the original configuration with the new one (DT10 and Greenies). The volume was on 4.5 on both recordings. The short video ends with a quick, 30-second "runnin' on 10" comparison. What the video can't impart is the clarity of the overdriven notes and the inspiration that I felt when playing. That amp on 10 with this set-up is a thing of beauty.
Oh. My decible level on "10" with the new rig is much lower than it was with the earlier version.
