Here's a little rocker I've been kicking around lately. Still needs lead guitar work, but you'll get the general idea.

Well, I’m scraping bottom, smoke ‘em if you got ‘em,
Rack ‘em up for another game.
Last night’s three has been looking for me,
Might have to change my name.

I got myself some dough and it’s burning a hole,
In my pockets as deep as a well.
I’m hoping to find some remnants of pride,
In the story I’ll tell.

Tell to the barflys, tell to the riff-raff, tell to the ne’er do wells,

It’s my standard, standard deviation from the norm.

Spectacular disgrace, I’m flat on my face,
Laid out on the floor.
Time to get a move on, figure out where I’m at,
And not be here no more.

Raise your cup, bottoms up!
Here’s to my hollow leg
If you wanna cover the cost of another,
I ain’t too proud to beg

Beg for forgiveness, beg for a kiss, beg for another tap of the keg

It’s my standard, standard deviation from the norm.

Cool! It sounds like a cross between AC/DC and Georgia Satellites. Has that "Walk All Over You" type beginning.

The effect on the vocal took me by surprise when it came in, but I like it. Is it slap-back delay or reverb?

Slide guitar would sound wicked for the lead.

Nicely done. MAJOR AC/DC vibe. I could hear Brian Johnson screeching out those lyrics in my head.

I like the slide idea too.

Sorry for the delay responding, boys... life interference.

@toomanycats , I used the Valhalla Supermassive plugin on the lead vocal, which is an interesting delay/reverb hybrid. I also double tracked all the way through.

Thanks @Rollin Hand!

I love it! cranked great tones and yes it does have that AC/DC vibe and that's a compliment, y'know.

My only suggestion would be to drop the repetition of the "from the norm" the three times during the chorus because
it seems to crammed in, but keep it for the last repeat of the chorus. The chorus would breathe a bit better that way i think
and then the accent weighs heavier on on the "deviation", not the norm which is kind of your whole point I think?
then you could play a bit vocally with the Dee-veee ay-shuh-unnnn if you get my drift.

love the shout chorus too! "Standard"! great drum sound too.

Love it man!

Thanks for the feedback @TVvoodoo . I’ll try some of that if/when I get back to this one!

Ha! I mistakenly stared signing the lyrics (silently) a few measures before you started and landed on the correct cadence/inflection. That song is well done. Well done!

Wow! Good song but the lyrics are pro. Do you write a lot of lyrics? How do you sell something like that?

Thanks @nomadh! I do write a lot of lyrics. I like words and the way they go together... sometimes even when they don't make sense (Judas Priest, anybody?).

I have no idea how to make money on something like that... wait for Darius Rucker to rip me off, then sue him?
