I think he trained under Segovia. I have a few of his albums inherited. Used to be one of my folks favorites.
Something happened to him in his later years where his arm was going to be locked at the elbow after an accident. Or something.
This guy chose the position best suited for playing his guitar.

He probably would have appreciated Kurts 10-18 string offerings.

According to his obituary in The Telegraph, "He also had what he described as a couple of “sessions” with Segovia in 1947, during the Spaniard’s first postwar visit to London, but later he insisted that they were not formal lessons."
And it was Les Paul who had his arm set at a playing angle …

Happened to Bream, too.

"An automobile accident in 1984, in which he broke his right elbow, required reconstructive surgery that limited his bending the arm. He had his surgeon set it in the optimal position for plucking guitar strings, and after relearning his technique to account for the loss in flexibility, he continued to perform and record."
