Got a pretty basic looking email with my password in the title telling me they have video of me watching the porn... And i must pay bitcoin.
Anyone else get these? I'm 99.9999% sure they don't have any dirt but still not a good feeling.
OT: Got a sextortion email
My wife got one... nothing ever came of it except for her finally heeding my advice to use the VPN service I subscribe to when using outside wifi networks (we stay in hotels often).

They have been coming into my office for a year or so now. They are fake but you should definitely change your password if you haven't already...

Do not pay it. They do not have anything on you. The way this scam works is that they buy a list of passwords and email addresses that came from some site that got hacked, then send those emails out to every address on the list, with the password as "proof" that they have something on you.
As usual, use a different, strong password for each site; keep your software and operating system up to date; and don't give out personal information to anything that seems even remotely dodgy.

That is a scam.
Go here and check to see where you email/accounts have been compromised: https://haveibeenpwned.com/
Change your passwords and try not to re-use passwords. Do not re-use any old password that has been listed as being compromised on the site above.
Use a good password manager to keep track of your passwords. I was a LastPass user for years and had a premium account through work. I switched to Bit Warden after my work did away with our LastPass subscriptions. There are many good ones out there. Use one that will work for you.
I try make use randomly generated passwords of 16-20 characters in length with numbers, letters, mixed case, and special characters.
Also, use two-factor authentication on every site that supports it.

I got one a few months ago, but it didn't have my password. It was definitely a scam and no made up footage they claimed to have has been shared to all my family, friends, and coworkers yet, so...
If I had something witty to say, I'd put it here.

I got one that said I have to pay up or they would tell family and friends I played an 8 string guitar. The shame is overwhelming

I've gotten some with my password in the subject line, but it didn't say anything about what they had on me, just that I needed to verify some personal information, which I didn't, I deleted the email and never thought of it again until this thread.
A good rule of thumb is if the word "bitcoin" is involved, it is a scam.
I was tempted to respond to the 4 emails expressing the shock all my friends and family would experience at the thought of me consuming porn, but that just makes the email address even more targeted.
I would say you will get a few more of these that should be ignored as well.

My wife encourages me to watch porn, so f*ck them.

I wish I'd have known it was a scam. I decided to thwart the would-be extortionists by making a video of myself "watching porn online" and sending it out to all my friends, family and colleagues so the video they had would have no value.
Dammit.
Dammit.

My wife got one of those a few months back, and she is definitely NOT the sort to watch porn. Cue the massive password redo.
A buddy got it as well. He was freaking out for some reason. I think it would have been more realistic if they said they had video of him watching WWE network.

I have gotten these off and on. I always report them as Phishing Emails to whatever account they come in to. I never repay though I have been tempted to send them some smartass retort. Best just to report and move on.

I'm at the other end of this. The sextortion is others have to pay up or they will make them watch me having sex. If I can get my cut I'll retire tomorrow.
