I am more a fan of Dave Gilmore.

Don't forget Steve Vaughan and Howard Allman

I have a group of guitars; they are ok, but not super.
That Derek Clapton was some kind of player back with the Tardbirds and Blind Melon.

Oh man.. can you imagine dueling guitars with Slash and Gilmour? Bring Duff along for bass. I feel like Slash is at his best when he has someone else melodic in the band (Dizzy Reed/AXL on Piano in Guns) they have different enough tones to play well together musically. Single coils vs humbuckers. And imagine David getting goaded into being a little harder hitting too. Win win if you ask me!
