It's most likely because security was tightened in response to a recent almost constant barrage of spam. You could have just asked first but fine, goodbye and take care...
Could you give us some more of the backstory @tobijohn?
As everyone else here has surely noticed, the spam bombardment we've been subjected to for the past couple months seems to have subsided. Whatever measures you've taken to address that issue, it's certainly a good thing.
