Budget computer speakers?

One of my new PC rig is a SFF (Lenovo M720q) and only output is headphone jack.

Driving my old-school computer speakers from that do not give me the level I want.
Use is mostly racing car onboard engine roars (decent sub?), and an occasional YT tutorial (on this rig).

Budget options?

I am even willing to get me a Hotone Nano with a 6' generic speaker I have kicking around, WTH.

Edifier makes some good stuff, and they are very reasonable when on sale . They are on Amazon.

I also like my Logitech THX speakers with sub (z625, I think). They should be findable used, and provide plenty of oomph.

But wait now, I have one unit near that PC driven by another unit, and I only use the sound f
rom one at a time, so I may just use a splitter, or a switch - safe to use such on sound output?

I have several of their little amps, and they're pretty good. But I think their version of 20 watts per channel is very low power. Might not be loud enough for what you want. They have 50 and 100 versions too.

I actually have my old Yamaha THR10C connected via USB to my Mini Desktop PC Upstairs. As such, it also doubles as a PC Speaker. When It's not turned on the little crappy speakers built into the 18.5 " monitor suffice. But if I'm watching a movie or listening to music on the PC, it rocks in Stereo.

I used to use a cheap Dayton Audio DTA-1 amp with a set of cheap bookshelf speakers.



It originally came with a set of bookshelf speakers, but I use them with my Hi-Fi rig, so the amp got retired to the garage to run a set of 70's low watt Hitachi bookshelf speakers with surprisingly good little alnico drivers I got from Goodwill for like $10.

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers are great and can be found under $100. IMO, the best PC speakers for the price. If you have speakers already, the small amp solutions is definitely the way to go. I have a Samson Servo 150 that I used with a set of Bose 301s about a decade ago that worked great. The only reason I moved on was because I got a set of studio monitors and rand my sound through a mixer. I've since gone back to the Klipsch PC speakers.

I've got the same Klipsch set running on my PC, they were marked down to $70 in June of '21. I have a set of studio monitors, but the auto on/off is annoying when the source is too quiet like when I am watching tv or movies at night after the family is asleep.
