Puppies! (been busy)

Well,

Haven't been here much of late, been quite busy. Still making music, band thrives and we gig now and then and it's getting more and more trash-influenced it seems. Also made a side project HÄ/DA which releases first song on the 31st. As for guitars the only guitar I've acquired of late is a Jeff Waters Annihilation V in black.

But mainly it's been other stuff. Our dog gave us 12 puppies, and it's gonna be a lot of work the next 5 weeks or so :-) It's an exceptionally large amount of pups, but every single one of them is fit as a fiddle and there were zero issues. She's a supermom, which I kinda expected because she's very large and super healthy and a super gentle disposition as well.

They're Entlebucher mountain dogs, four girls and eight boys. Almost all already reserved and I won't send them overseas :-)

What is your day like? What do you expect in the future when they start running around? I had to look up what an adult looks like. What a beautiful animal...

Here's the parents, mom on the right.

Right now it's easy, just make sure they eat enough, keep the area clean and the mom well fed. I imagine it's gonna be a huge problem cleaning up after them as they grow and start eating solids and running around...I may have to line the whole rec room in the basement with plastic, Dexter style, or at least have to renovate the whole space when they leave.

I can imagine before they leave it's gonna be like a pack of raptors going in there...

Beautiful dogs. Reminds me when our Irish Setter had a litter and we ended up keeping one of her daughters for an extended time (to about 1 year old) for an out-of-the-country sister. The mom ended up being jealous of attention the daughter got, and of course not being as fast as when she was younger. Still great times.

They're not a very common breed - everyone knows Bernese mountain dogs, but few know there are four variants from the neighboring towns, Bern , Appenzeller, Entlebuch as well as the Large Swiss which isn't named after a town. All three besides Bernese are short-haired. The hair is ultra easy to handle, as it's always clean and smells nice, you never ever have to wash it and it is somehow dirt repelling. Only the paws need a rinse now and then when it's really muddy outside. Much like cats in that sense.

I think a big reason these breeds aren't so well known is that they're almost oblivious to anybody but the owners. So when people see them, they get the picture that they are indifferent and cold, as they don't really pay any attention to strangers or react to petting and such like most dogs eagerly do - at most they warn the owner and guard. It takes at least 10-15 minutes that they will warm up a bit if the owner seems relaxed, but usually a whole day or so, before they really start to show any interest or tenderness towards new people.

But with their own family, they're incredibly loving and attentive, they will follow you literally everywhere and constantly watch you awaiting for any clues what might you want them to do - they love it when they succeed in doing what is asked of them, and they always, always want to cuddle as close as they can, squeezing into chairs with you and always trying to curl up next to you, much like a cat really in that as well. They love comfort, and when the weather is nasty, they may want to not go for walks for a week easy, just a quick wee and back to the couch - but they are still very strong and agile and can join you for long treks in the forest or whatever any time. Again a bit iike cats, they don't need a rigorous daily exercise routine at all to keep in shape, but when they do get to move, they are very active and usually tire up all the oither dogs in dog parks playing chase.

Since they have zero interest in game and never leave their own yard or your side, fences or not, they're pretty much the perfect dog in my book.

We also have an Appenzeller, which is very similar, but much more stubborn and much more leery towards stangers and even other dogs, but othwerwise the same.
