Our Trio has a gig tonight. Getting the gear ready this morning. Everything in one load! 20 minute setup/tear down.
I absolutely love the Bose L1 system and my Backline gear bag. Make things easy for an old guy. lol.

I want that cart so I can load up on street food and head back to my car without dragging dozens of small bags around in the Thailand heat...maybe even use it to fetch an amp or 2 off FB marketplace

I did a solo acoustic show tonight with my Bose and you are right, 20 minutes to load in and ready for sound check. I carry the entire PA in one trip. That Bose stuff is hard to beat. We use just one Bose "stick" with the band as well. Set it beside the drummer and just about don't need a monitor in some locations. Instead of containers full of crap like the old days, I just carry two milk crates with just the cables, multiplug outlets, folding guitar stand, etc. Once everything is plugged in I turn the crates upside down and they are my little table for the mixer, beer, phone, picks and such. Things have never been simpler. Good thing too, I am getting old.

Do you need a mixer if you are runnnng three or more mics/inputs into the system?

I would say yes, in my case anyway. The L1 Compact has 1 xlr and (1) 1/4” input. My L1 1S only has a 1/4”. You can use any passive mixer with them though. I run the Bose T8S mixer with my setup.

I have a newer model L1 and when it is just me I can actually plug both my mic and my guitar directly into the speaker. It has Volume, Treble, Bass and Reverb capabilities allowing me to not use a mixer at all. However I do use a Bose T8S for a few reasons. First, I can mute the FX when talking to the audience. Second, I can use the built in tuner feature. Lastly, I can control my monitor right at my finger tips. If I run the monitor off the output of the speaker I have to adjust levels by the volume knob on the back of the speaker. When doing this you have to flatten al EQ on the mixer and adjust for bass, treble and reverb on the speaker itself. I suppose I could flatten the treble and bass controls on the speaker then utilize the EQ in the mixer to adjust to optimum sound. It just seemed simpler to set all the low, mid and high EQ adjustments on the T8S to 0.0 the color the tone with the speaker. I can tell you this, it sounds damn good. I can say this, if the speaker EQ is set up and then you start hitting the speaker with more EQ controls off of the mixer it starts to sound all wanky and nasally.
