It looks like there's forty three tuning posts on that thing. Maybe a quad of whatever is on the ten string guitar below, set up side by side.

Good question. The good news is there are pickups intended for [insert not guitar instrument]s. I have a harpsichord that has a single Barcus Berry pickup spanning the middles of all its strings. The instrument, a zither, is held at a local historical society, no chance to mod it!

Apparently there are many zither configurations, was popular, but very few got to play it beyond basics.
