I think her fans caused that. It doesn't sound anything like real country!
Downright painful to listen to!

Agree...and the headline is a red herring...it's not the fact that she's a black woman that gives me pause, it's that someone of her musical career and genre is exploiting country music just because she can. On one hand, it's good that she is exploring different musical styles and brings attention of more folks to country but I fear she opens the flood gates to "Country Rap" or "Rural Reggaeton" ...stay tuned.

Country music has been pop for quite some time. The ripple is expanding (if that makes sense).

@mickey That 4:16 song seemed to last at least ten. 'Has the maikings of a classic, though.

I'm neither a fan of Beyonce nor of Country, and I have no heartburn. I think exploring outside one's comfort zone is a great thing for anyone in music. Crossover work has been around forever and every once in a while is the starting point for new genres.

I dont think the Rolling Stones got country awards for Far Away Eyes, or even for their more serious country twangers like Dead Flowers.

Music of all genres is no longer that of our Grandpappy's. I have not heard her song(s) and probably won't on purpose. I just do not listen to those type stations.

Two words for anyone complaining about this: Chris Gaines.
