I had to start Tuesday by yelling at a bank. But it could have been worse.
The short of it is that 3 weeks ago I scheduled a vendor payment on my bank's portal, and learned a couple days ago that vendor never got paid. I tried to figure out what happened, and the only sign of it on my bank's portal was a skipped check number. They had no other bread crumb indicating that payment. But they assign the check numbers, so they couldn't deny being at fault. I had to fix the situation almost 2 weeks late with the vendor, and the bank only offered an apology. I'm pretty sure I know how they screwed it up, but that doesn't help.
Long story short: Don't trust the banks just because they tell you a payment has been scheduled... check up on them every now and then.
