Your Super Bowl food and drink?

Here, it's low key, cock pot meat loaf, and Duvel, a Belgian beer I haven't had in ages.

You?

If you do not care for Super bowl, you probably can find a Six-Nation Championship rugby game or replay going on (spoiler: Ireland, very strong, in in the lead right now, their win over France was spectacular)

I have a batch of Brunswick Stew simmering on the stove for the halftime treat. It will also be lunch and dinner next week until it runs out.

I played rugby as a young man and I wish it were as popular as American football but it is not. I enjoy rugby on youtube and other free services and watch when I can. I am always behind but since there is no coverage here I have no idea of the outcome and it seem live to me.

Update: wife wanted margaritas, so we had that.

Thanks Tonebender, I learned what Brunswick Stew is - spicy?!

Rugby: Comcast, in its infinite wisdom, restored (= had to give away) free Peacock in my area, and it has rugby, and British football.

Peacock is not free here but they do carry a lot of Rugby. I do not make the stew spicy because the missus is a lightweight when it comes to that but I add some good habanero sauce to mine.

It was a good game. I potted down the halftime show and played a few songs for the wife. I ran through the Toby Keith tune I have been learning by her and she said, "it's getting there".

I watched most of the game in between getting my kids bathed and to bed. It was a fun game with that "KC will figure it out in the 2nd half" vibe, even though the SF defence (especially Bosa) were breathing fire the whole time.

Speaking of breathing fire (well, not really), we had chili for dinner, which is somewhat appropriate.

It was also fun seeing the people in the celebrity box with Taylor Swift.

I did not watch the halftime show, nor did I care to. I have never knowingly listened to an Usher song all the way through, and I want to keep the streak alive.

I made some Meat Church OG Sausage Balls. They were just OK. We are at a VRBO on vaca so I didn’t have my outdoor kitchen available for anything substantial.

We usually have a get-together for the Super Bowl. I used to buy a keg for my employees and let them bring their own grub, but now it's something my wife and I do with the kids every year.

Menu for last night:

Chicken queso dip
Homemade hummus
Homemade French Onion dip
Homemade Buffalo and lemon pepper wings
Loaded potato skins
Meat and cheese tray
Veggie tray
Assorted bottled beer (Sam Adams, Budweiser, Miller HL, Montucky Cold Snacks, 903 Sherman Bock)
Chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies

Made a pretty boring game a lot better.

Haha, usually 16-20. But it was normally a pony keg.

I've never ever watched a football game (superbowl or other) but I couldn't agree more about Usher! :D

I made a Turkey Club Sandwich and washed it down with a grapefruit seltzer. Delish.

My report card:
Game: B -
Commercials: B
Usher: C (so bland that I left the room and did something else)
Pre-game God Bless America by Post Malone: I'm sorry. I couldn't get past his creepiness to grade it one way or the other. Mark me down as a salty old-timer.

Now let's get back to hockey. Outdoor game on Saturday at Met Life Stadium in Jersey. Even non-hockey fans should tune in for that one.

My daughter-in-law made a really nice and spicy jambalaya, I made wings and a cut some veggies. Had a mix of beer.

I found the game was well matched and low stress, since the Eagles choked at the end of the season. I am rarely entertained by the half-time show, as I find it typically contrived and hyped. Nor am I a connoisseur of commercials and am actually grateful I am of a demographic that is no longer the focus of advertisements (I get to keep my savings, instead of being compelled to consume).

With that Menu of yours I wouldn't have cared for the game at all! You made my imagination work in a very picturesque way haha

Glad you enjoyed that moment at home!

It's the guy who collects money at church I think and helps you find a seat

Haha, my wife has a tendency to over-cook. She loves doing the food. Even if I can't eat it all.
