Moving my DAW to a new laptop...

Can't install my drums without a DVD drive, so I buy one... it works.

Can't install my drums because their installers want a "newer" version of the OS, which is actually older than the one my laptop is running. No fix.

So I can't have my favorite drums. The DAW has some basic drum kits. I guess I have to learn them instead and hope they have some I love. It doesn't sound like it tho.

Remember when music was about playing? I really hate planned obsolescence today.

You lost me at DAW. Good luck getting your drums back up and running.

Microsoft's software tool told me my perfectly good Windows 10 laptop with a reasonably fast CPU was not capable of upgrading to Win 11. Quick perusal of YouTube and I find a way via a command line switch to install it without issue. The rub ? The laptop runs faster and far better than it ever did on Win 10 ! Just ridiculous!

My computer just "updated" to windows 11. I had to get a tech to sort out bugs because a couple of software programs were running slowly..

In addition, I really, really don't like the 11 set-up. My point-and-click muscle memory is all screwed up - and don't get me started on the right click menus!

I still like Win7 the best (using it right now on my 8 year old Dell Latitude) . Win10 never really impressed me so Win11 being so fresh and new is seeming like a nice upgrade for me anyway. Takes a bit of adjusting to but all in all...I'm hoping they don't screw it up with Win 12

Win12 may amp up the requirements, as I (mis)read it, so much so that boatloads of machines will head for the junk pile.
