I have been watching some of the vids out of the 1st couple of days of NAMM. The usual suspects and most stuff...meh but Larry Carlton (Sire) guitars really seem to be hitting the mark with some great looking stuff. Premium prices I am sure but really nice to see some new models

I agree that J5 looks great, but it doesn't look like they're releasing those in lefty. :cry:

Gearlist: Fav: Gibson LP and Gibson Goldtone Amp. Other gear: Gretsch, Peavey, Taylor and more.

I looked hard a the Sire 335 style guitar a couple of years ago but was reluctant to buy without being able to play one. Finally I ran up on one in Guitar Center in Tampa and played it. I didn't like the neck profile so I am glad I did not order one site unseen. The whole Sire lineup gets good reviews.

I looked at them too, there is a shop not far from here that seems to carry them if I wanted to try. But here they are about $920 bucks so a bit of a premium over the $700 - $750 Sweetwater price....so just too high IMHO.

I thought they were a little overpriced as well for being MIC. I suppose it would depend on the tuners, pups, etc. If no upgrades are needed then it seems fair.

Why is it that the older I get....the more I need a headstock to look a certain way?
And the Sire headstock just doesnt do it for me...
But - oddly enough....something like a Firefly does...(even though I dont own one)

Yeah...I've seen Darrel Braun review the Sires on his youboob channel - good reviews

I've had three come though my shop: two for a minor setup tweak and one for a pickup swap.

The 335 one was very nice, as good as some Gibsons I have played. Like @tonebender mentioned, the neck is supposed to be identical to Larry Calrton's late 60's 335, which has a 60's profile and a narrow nut width. People either love it or hate it.

The P-bass was perfect and i tried to talk the owner out of swapping the pickups for Duncan Quarter-pounders, but he had his preferences.

The Tele was on par with a Mexican or American Tele (I find them to be interchangeable).
