I have grown to dislike the smell of Febreze as much as I dislike the odors it is attempting to mask. In the last few years, I have repaired a lot of amps and guitars which people just bought. To which the folks selling them have absolutely dunked the item in Febreze. Then I find being hunched over a guitar or amp for an hour sniffing it gives me an awful headache.

Anyone else feel the same?

I muchly prefer the smell of Febreze to the smell of tobacco smoke!

Covid took most of my sense of smell. Before that, I didn't like Febreze much. But my SG's case interior? That was an unmatched awesome smell I wish I could still detect.

If now you can barely smell anything, you're welcome to stop by anytime. It would be better though if you could barely see anything, considering the shape this place is in...

Thanks. I did too much traveling for my career. I'm currently working toward being snowed in. Did you get tornado damage? Hope not!

No tornado damage but out running errands yesterday, i had to swerve a couple times to avoid hitting coconuts lying on the street...

I don't have the same issue with Febreeze, but there are many better options out there. Just plain ol' baking soda works wonders, as does volcanic rock.

Or -- crazy idea, I know -- just clean the damn thing before selling it! It goes a long way.

I remember driving thru the nightmare that is Rt 17 towards the Paramus mall yo check out a craigslist guitar. I seem to remember it was a hollow body Epiphone (Broadway) at a reasonable price. I was stoked. As soon as I walked into the guy's house I knew what was coming, the stench of his freshly smoked cigs mixed with 15 years of stale nicotine stench inside the case almost made me wretch. I can still smell it. That guitar was DOA

Febreeze has a no scent option. I think that may have been it's original formula as it didn't take off until they marketed it as an air freshener.

It would be cool for Styx to do a Febreeze commercial performing "Snowblind," except they would sing it as "Noseblind."

I hear gin or vodka does a fairly good job as F substitute, used in the performing industry, with fancy stage costumes.
Next time I stop by the packie (a.k.a. liquor store in MA), I will buy me a jug of Everclear, for, uh.. cleaning, yeah.. cleaning.

Speaking of, the packie near me has zero Belgian beer, which was on my list to explore next. Sad I am.

Many years ago I bought a 1986 Les Paul and the case smelled like some just blew cigarette smoke into for it's entire existence. The guitar is awesome though. Every time I opened it, it reminded me of my grandfather so I did not mind. The other day I got it out and it had been 7-8 years since I last opened. It seem to have diminished quite a bit but that could be the effects of COVID on me too. Since COVID the only hot sauce that has any heat at all is Dave's Insanity Sauce which can peel paint.

I use Febreze and I get the GAIN scent. I can smell it but it is not too strong.

I should add that the front yard was very well maintained.

I wonder if they had Febreze in that manger in Bethlehem...you know to freshen up the swaddling clothing

There was a common farmhouse style where families used to live right next to, or on second floor, above the cattle, so as to stay warm.
I have been in small, old-school barns, with maybe ten cows, and it's hot in there!
Febreze was not yet invented!
Also, drinking milk, just as it is milked out is an experience. Same with cider.

It's still quite common here in SE Asia. Houses up on stilts with animals living on ground level, which turns into an open living room during the day. Not so much for heat of course but for protection against snakes and critters while sleeping.
