Do you guys have a special gift for yourself this Christmas?

Guitar, amp, multi effects, car, boat, house, family trip, etc.?

You know, Christmas is just around the corner...

I got mine early this year, the Gibson 335. I took it to the first gig last evening and it was fantastic. It is such a soft player and sounds so good.

No plans for a Christmas gift here, but then I jump at gear whenever I see a great deal I like any time of year. Christmas in my circles is just one of many holidays. It's good for getting together with people we don't see enough of and the gifting isn't a concern. I worked with people from all over, so it makes sense to not share traditions as much as values.

I probably won't get it for myself, but I may ask for a guitar lesson with Australian punk rock legend Mad Macka if he's still doing it!

Those are the best Christmas gifts ever, before or after, it doesn´t matter! I agree with you. Our friends and family circles share different beliefs many times, so one of the bonds is the sharing of common virtues and values.

Having said that, you have given yourself several gifts this year :)

Cool! That´s an interesting way of giving guitar lessons indeed. :)

No idea. I kind of throw a monkey wrench into the works by having my birthday in December too.
I do intend to try to give myself the gift of being healthier, but not easy with kids.

Perhaps the best gift will be my wife leaving her job for a new one that pays WAY more and is hopefully not nearly as toxic.

It does apply as a Christmas gift, and it would actually be a great Christmas gift!

My gift will be having my wife, sons, daughter-in-law and friends around for the holidays.

My wife and I have gotten into the habit of not spending on ourselves too much, saving a little here and there as we go and just buying what we need throughout the year.

Love this. Those are the gifts we should cherish and treasure always, forever, Christmas or no Christmas. Family and loved ones are the most precious gifts.

It´s also understandable that, at this point, many of you already have what you want/need regarding musical gear, so there´s not a particular Christmas gift in your mind, except maybe having a good time with your family/friends.

My main Christmas gift is the same as yours, of course. It´s my every-day, all-year-long gift, actually :)

Every year we have to go through the swapping of trinkets. One year a long time ago I tried to interject reason into the situation and suggested we pool the money and donate to the needy instead of buying each other golf balls, etc. We could still get together, have a nice meal and enjoy each other's company. I was almost exiled from the family for such an idea. So each year I buy slippers, flashlights, and golf balls.

It´s actually a good idea. I can understand that children have the ilusion of the Christmas gift, but as for the rest of adults, it would be a great idea giving something meaningful to people who need it.

You can still do it, on your own. That feeling is so much rewarding...

PS: I added another new word to my vocabulary: trinkets. You guys might not think about it, but AGF has also become something of an "English teacher" to me :)

Special Gift ? I'd be happy if the Home Maintenance costs moderated just a little. One thing leads to another, building a rain awning porch to protect the foundation and in the process the yard/garden has effectively been destroyed, so now need to hire landscape crew to 'fix' this. :( :(

Yes, lower maintenance costs would be good, for sure - for cars, for home, for our health! -.

But you own your house. What a great gift! You´re blessed!

I just got some new pants. Not exciting, but needed.

My wife and I don't exchange gifts but this year I'm getting her some big, comfy bath towels. She'll appreciate them and they'll last forever.

Since I got rid of Vox Night Train head, I need another lunch box tube head as a back up for my combo. I had a speaker connection pigtail made up with the slide on connectors on one end and 1/4" on the other so I could run the head through the speaker in the combo if the combo craps out. It actually happened once over the years and it worked like a charm. I had to carry a reverb pedal too but a mini pedal is no trouble to throw in the bag. Since I starting gigging again I have been taking two amps to combo amps to the gigs. My Goldtone is the primary and the SCXD is the back up. I want to get back to just a head as a spare with the pigtail and I am considering two options. One is the later generation Night Train that has reverb and the other is this amazing amp by Devilcat Amps out of Statesboro Georgia. Two channels, 3 or 17 watts, small tank reverb and just delicious tone.

Need enabling? Well, we´re great enablers!

Go for it! Giggin' times won´t last forever - in case you need a "reason" to do it -. And Christmas is just around the corner, if you need another reason...

:)
