Yep -- cool new footage seems to be appearing a lot. And it makes me happy to see them young and full of vim and vigour (and coke and Schlitz), playing so well. It makes me wonder what other pro-shot material is out there.
I still want the Oakland show (Fair Warning tour) to be fully restored and released. If they put that out, a lot of old fans would lap it up.
And I would love it if there was pro-shot Vai/Sheehan-era DLR stuff to be had.

Yes, you get it too! In this August, 1984 video Dave is already coming into being as the Crazy From the Heat EP Dave, the legendary Eat Em' and Smile era solo Dave.
There's a moment before Dave takes the stage in front of those 200,000 some odd thousand people, while his handlers are supplicating to him, and he's adjusting the brim of his Panama jack hat, getting himself into full on vaudeville, Al Jolson mode, that I imagine him thinking . . . "I can replace this Philipine/Dutch guitarist with a lackey that is completely underneath me."
This video captures the terminal end of an epic power struggle.

It didn't have to be terminal, but when money, fatigue and drugs come together, bands self destruct. Even as they are seemingly at the peak of their powers.
I find it interesting that EEAS sticks around for so many of us 80s folks, even when at the time it was somewhat dismissed.
Then Skyscraper happened, wrecking things big time. Is it any wonder DLR went full on rock for A Lil' Ain't Enough (and I stand by that album being underrated)? Of course, just then, Nirvana hit, wrecking things further. And Jason Becker got sick.
This reminds me that I need to get that PAF Pro installed in my Jack Butler.
