Gearlist: Fav: Gibson LP and Gibson Goldtone Amp. Other gear: Gretsch, Peavey, Taylor and more.

Sort of a percussionist or pianist approach to the fretboard.

Gearlist: A tele, a bass and a bunch of other stuff.

I respect - and am in awe - of his style but I couldn't listen to it for more than one song.

Oh, that brings up a memory from the past: I saw him play, back in 1981, I think.
Berklee Performance Center, Boston, next to the music school.

First musician I saw with a wireless setup, walking up the center aisle.

Great memories in that hall. Back then, you could buy a "Friend of Berklee" membership for an affordable fee, which gave you advance notice and ticket purchase. Extra: access to the hall's tiny upstairs lounge where you could get a pre-show drink. Great to bring a date, and have a relaxed glass of wine before getting to your seat!
Good stuff was so much more affordable, back then.
The other farm cats didn’t super love him but the chickens thought he was alright so he became a chicken.

I like the Travis Bean, but where is the bridge pickup?

No doubt these younger players are inspired by SJ, but I like how they tend to use tapping for specific short parts rather than as the core of the song.
