Ordered four tires for my truck yesterday online at Tiretrack, delivery next day, said the confirmation.
This morning, I check my tracking, says "awaiting credit card confirmation"
Using the online chat, I found that, indeed, their system is apparently still checking on that!
For reference I have had that credit card since the late 1980s, and my shipping and billing address has not changed in eight years.
I canceled the order! Am I an a**?
Now I have to find an other place to buy four tires.
Am I an a**hole here - Tirerack take a full day to check payment!

The other farm cats didn’t super love him but the chickens thought he was alright so he became a chicken.
Gee, that is concerning. I don't know that I would have cancelled quite that quickly, unless I already had located another source, but I am surprised that Tirerack, which I consider to be one of the larger tire merchandiser, would take that long.
I haven't bought tires anywhere other than COSTCO for quite a while. But I certainly understand voting with your feet.

I think they are running the place with the minimum people possible, hence the processing delay.
I would think these inner workings should be automated by now, though?
I could have waited... but how long?
Looking at tirebuyer right now. One thing I learn is that manufacturers strictly control the prices, so there is very little differences, at least online.

Unless a company implements a very good workflow management system, more automation means more cracks to fall through. All it takes is a failure the system doesn't appropriately sense and recover to fail the customer completely. Sounds like one of those.

I get mine from Amazon now. Better selection, same prices, couple days delivery. Put 'em on and balance them myself. I use to work in a tire store in my 20's so I know what's what.
Have you dealt with them before? I think a few places now do double checking when using a credit card, maybe they are held liable if it's a scam or stolen card. I've always ordered from them and 20 years never had problems, tires are shipped fast and i have them installed down the road from here. Same with Rock Auto, best parts and shipping i have ever had. May not be the exact lowest prices but what's a few cents compared to great customer service.

Fraud detection is slowing down a lot of e-commerce companies.
I prefer dealing with a local shop (they price match even online pricing) and the old guy that runs the place is very helpful.

How, and how long would the "checking" be?
24 hours? More?
First time running into this situation.

If you really need to know after you cancelled the transaction, call your credit card company. They would be able to trace any account activity including a hold or pre-auth.PoodlesAgain wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 3:21 pm How, and how long would the "checking" be?

I was in Norway for 2 weeks earlier this month and my Amex card ( only use it for reimburseable expenses ) was declined 3 times in a row at 3 different vendors. I thought perhaps it was security related, but called AMEX and they figured out in about 2 minutes what was going on. Essentially all 3 vendors just didn't accept amex so there was no activity to even show.
