Blue Ridge Georgia

The wife and I are in the Blue Ridge Mountains for a few days, specifically we are at the southern end of the mountains in Blue Ridge, GA. We are getting ready to go riding on the motorcycles. We are going to the Boat Dock Bar & Grill on Lake Blue Ridge then we are riding up to Copperhill TN to the brewery. McCaysville GA and Copperhill TN are side by side straddling the state line. They are suppose to be quaint little towns with lots to see walking around. There is a store in McCaysville called Drugs and Guns. I have to go there and get a pic. Lots of mountain roads to go kubbing too but the rain is suppose to set in Wednesday for the rest of the week. Oh well, when you plan these things you have no idea what the weather will be.

Jeff, sounds like you've been getting some good information. As you may have guessed, that is the area where I was born & grew up.
McCaysville Drug (a pharmacy) has been there since 1958. A few years ago some member of their family wanted to open a gun shop,
so they knocked out a wall, extended the building & it became McCaysville drug & gun. Don't forget to pick up a t-shirt or two while you are there.

They used to sell those t-shirts on-line but were selling them faster than they could have them made, so you have to buy them in the store now. :D
Want to get some funny stares? Wear one on your next doctor's appointment.

I still own a 1/2 interest in some acreage up there. My niece & I bought it that way to insure we could avoid taxes on the purchase as well as
inheritance without modifying wills & such. She & her family live on it. Come to think of it, the woods are full of my relatives up there. So if it
starts to feel like a casting call for "Deliverance" now you know why! :D

While you are there, follow the signs to Ducktown, as you are getting into town take a left (west) on highway US64. That is about 12 miles of some of the
nicest bike riding in the entire smokies! But when you get to Parksville dam you can turn around and head back to Ducktown. Oh, and the flume line
they divert the river into has been there a long while because it was built using "muledozers" at least according to my GranDad & he ought to know because
he was one of the head blacksmiths on the project.

Sounds like a great trip - is that your cabin? Looks like an awesome place to hang out and relax after a ride.

@mickey I hope we can check out US64 out of Ducktown, With the rain moving in we are going to lose a lot of riding time. Maybe we just take the truck. It is a wonderful area and I am sure you have fond memories of living here. I could definitely settle up this way once she retires. I would like to buy a place here and go back and forth following sunshine. Sort of a reverse snowbird.

@uwmcscottWe rented the cabin using Vrbo. This is the second time using Vrbo and I like it. This place is awesome, nice basement with ping pong, darts, air hockey, etc. Master bedroom on the ground floor and two big bedrooms up stairs. A little pricey and a lot of house for two people but it would be jam up for 6-8 people. Oh yeah and a hot tub on the back deck. It is too cold though plus I would be scared I would go back in time. LOL, love that movie!

That entire area is beautiful. My son starts at the Univ. of North Georgia this fall, mainly due to the scenery!

Looks like a nice trip. When it rains, sounds like Modelo time on the porch.

What a great ride that must be. I was near the blue ridge last year between GA and TN during the height of the fall foliage. We came up through the smoky Mountains. There’s so many beautiful outlooks, it’s hard to not stop at every single one.
