I hope everyone here has a safe and fun Labor Day weekend. I am getting tires on my motorcycle in the morning. We are going to watch a friend's son play hockey tomorrow evening and Monday friends are having us over a dip in the pool and some BBQ.

I hit Sam's, Publix, Wal-Mart & Winn Dixie this morning & won't be leaving the property until Tuesday at the earliest. :D
Labor Day Weekend is one of the two busiest weekends per year in my local area, Memorial Day is the other with the 4th of July a close third. Best time to stay home!

For the most part, I'll stay home too. I might raise a glass for those I used to labor with. Happy Labraday! Image

Same to you @tonebender . We will be pretty low key and stick around town with many sports/scouts/kids events going on and work on some project around the house. We will make a day trip to La Crosse to celebrate my dads 87th bday, and might stop into Dave’s Guitar Shop if have time

Hope you all have a safe and happy weekend.

I hope your dad has a great bday! 87, that is awesome!

I rode to the Harley shop this morning to get tires put on my bike. It was such a nice ride in.

Had to venture out for a gig last night and will have to again tonight. Looking forward to getting back home ASAP. Holiday weekends bring out the loony, intoxicated, downright crazies.

Case in point, yesterday while standing at the gas pump filling up a car pulled in next to me, driven by a scrawny looking dude with a lit cigarette dangling out of his mouth, covered in tattoos, with a maniacal grin and the unmistakable look of psychosis in his eyes. He kept right on smoking as he got out of the car and proceeded to pump gas. I was just finishing and would be out of there in mere seconds, though some part of me wanted to say something to him . . . though I didn't. Honestly, I'm done fighting the crazies, I'm done hoping the law will do their duty when I try to be a good citizen, now I just walk, or in this case, drive away.

Be safe everybody.

Took Friday off since I needed to burn some more PTO before I switch jobs at the end of the month.

We are staying at an in-town KOA in a little cabin, did it Memorial day weekend too. It is like having a RV without all the expense of a payment, storage, and insurance (plus a truck to pull it). Since we are 15 miles from home I could run back home when we forgot a couple things.

Stuff for the kids to do all day, pool and beer for me to relax, and a nice large dog park for our 1yr old boxer to stretch her legs.

Also the weather could not be better. A little Monsoon moisture for clouds, but not enough for any storms.

Gonna make pizza pies for dinner tonight and hobo dinners tomorrow night, a couple charcuterie boards for lunch each day. Pancakes and bacon for breakfast today, hash brown and eggs tomorrow (with left over bacon). They have food trucks coming Monday so I am sure I'll get a breakfast burrito.

Good simple family fun weekend.

Planned mostly just relaxing home with the family and dogs as well.
Planned on getting some guitar playing time and related items sorted.

Overnight Saturday, my elder dog, 10 1/2 year old lab mix Milo, crashed. Vomited some, wouldn't eat, couldn't move well, not urinating. (he already had some ongoing age related issues).

My regular vet was closed Monday, so we took him to another well known animal hospital that was open.
He now also had fluid in his lungs.

It was time for him to go to the Rainbow Bridge.
I am having a hard time typing this.

this pic of the 3 is from earlier Saturday, he was fine.

I don't drink much anymore, but I have been the last few days.

I will see you again on the other side Milo, my beloved friend.

I am so sorry to hear this! It is so hard to deal with outliving our dogs. Remember all the good times with Milo!

Sorry for your loss.

The big ones seem to go fast when it happens.

It hits hard and even years later and after new ones come to steal your heart, they will pull at the heart strings when you think of them.

My big guy was fine one night, woke up next morning and he was scratching to get into the bathtub like he was lost in the house. Had to go to work so I took him outside and he seemed OK after I sat with him for a few minutes, but a little fuzzy. Came home at lunch and he was gone. He had passed peacefully sunning himself in his happy place. Wish I had known it would be my last goodbye. (It still eats at me why I didn't stay with him...)

I am not sure what was worse. That feeling seeing him gone or having to sit and hold my other dog's head when they put her to sleep...

Thanks for the kind words and support folks.

I'm glad I was home when this all transpired.
As hard as it was, I had to be by his side for his last moments in this dumpster fire world.
