Brian Lonbeck is about 74 or 75 year old, went to work for Barbara Mandrell as a guitar player when he was 15.
I just learned about him yesterday! How did I miss this guy? If you know more please fill me in. If you never heard of him, please watch the video.
The Tune is "Fire on the Strings" which Maphis learned as "Fire on the Mountain" as an old fiddle tune, Maphis began playing it on guitar in 1939.

There are hundreds of stellar sidemen, especially around Nashville that none of us have ever heard of. You know more than most given your geographic history but a few are sure to have slipped thru your purview.

Brian is based in California (Bakersfield, I think) and only in Nashville from time to time. That probably has a lot to do with the why I've never heard of him before. He is able to copy Joe Maphis playing better than anyone I've ever encountered. Well, except that Maphis was equally skilled on guitar, banjo, mando, fiddle, bass, drums & piano.

It's like 1 guy playing "Dueling Banjos" all by himself with that doubleneck.
