Chariots of Fire

I saw on the BBC today that the guy who wrote Chariots of Fire (the tune, not the movie) has died. This reminded me of my favorite performance of the tune.
It is by the late Phil Emmanuel and his band. Phil was Tommy's big brother.

Vangelis was a musical genius and a heavyweight in Hollywood music circles, as well in many other musical genres. He was a modern version of a one-man-band as he could play most any instrument. He wrote many movie soundtrack hits for movies including Chariots of Fire, Blade Runner and The Bounty. But it was for his albums in which he collaborated with YES’s Jon Anderson that I remember him best, particularly the album The Friends of Mr Cairo. This is the title track, an outstanding piece of work.
