I keep seeing more & more carbon fiber acoustics but do not remember seeing any carbon fiber electrics.
Am I just missing them? Or is there some reason I'm unaware of???
Any ideas? Thanks.

I've been watching for that too, and seeing none. I was also hoping to see carbon fiber acoustics come down in price, but haven't seen that either. I think what's playing against them is that working in carbon fiber is fairly labor-intensive, at least compared to CNC milling.

The acoustics are coming down in price, a bit. I saw one last week for ~$800.
And that is the cheapest I've ever seen.

The Parker Fly is a carbon fiber electric that was first introduced in 1993. It's actually a composite construction, made from epoxy, glass, carbon fiber and wood.

Lot's of very famous players have used them (Joe Walsh, David Bowie, Brain May, Bob Weir, Pete Townsend, Adrian Belew, Joni Mitchell, etc.), though it's true that carbon fiber guitars have not caught on with the electric crowd. That they are pricey may have something to do with that.

The only thing i've seen is the latest Yamaha Revstars have a carbon fibre reinforced neck.

Carbon fiber in general is something that is not very cost effective. It is great for niche things like high end sports cars, but in places where organic composite (wood) is suitable, wood is more cost effective...

An acoustic makes sense as plywood or solid wood sheet needs to be stiffened by support ribs. CF is stiff and strong enough to need minimal internal bracing. I imagine one could tune the stiffness/strength by changing the percentage of the carbon fiber and resin.

A solid body electric it would only make sense for reinforcement methinks (necks). I bet a Casino style hollow body would be cool as CF, but probably not necessary.

A solid CF billet would be wasteful.

That makes a ton of sense, thanks!
