Now don't get me wrong, I'm as big a Dolly Parton fan as anyone!
But why on earth is she nominated for the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame?
That just doesn't make any sense to me.
Who's next, Bill Monroe? Ernest Tubb? Hank Williams?

Yeah, there's a fair number of non-rockers in the hall o fame, but Dolly Parton? Yikes. Most of the non-rockers were at least early influencers.

She did a version of stairway to heaven didn't she? I never heard it and am not about to go searching for it to listen to it. Anyway, here is a picture of Robert Plant playing guitar.

She did, and I thought it was quite good, very surprisingly. Celtic and bluegrass elements, but generally respectful of the original. Actually more interesting to listen to, IMO.
Certainly doesn't make her a rocker, though.

To bring balance to the force now they've got to let Slayer into the Grand Ole Opry.

She even turned down an Elvis duet. Said no to The Kang.
But, she then supposedly weeped rivers of Mascara for days.

That surprises me! I think she's the only person in history to do duets with more people than Willie Nelson!

At least she can play an instrument and knows how to write a song and sing in key...same can't be said for some of the other folks they've been inducting in the last 20 years or so..
Playing rock and roll has unfortunately not been a requirement for quite some time

I dunno. She came up from poverty and became a brilliant songwriter and superstar with tons of hits in a male-dominated business, and without compromising who she is, or what she believes in.
That's way more rock 'n' roll than a lot of Hall of Fame members.

This is news?
I didn't think anyone had taken the RRHOF seriously in...longer than I've been alive. It's always been a complete farce.

Since I posted this thread, it has been suggested to me that Dolly might be nominated because she wrote this little Whitney Houston hit?

Since Rock's roots are in country and bluegrass, a case could be made for Monroe and Williams.
There is more rock n' roll in this than there is in 25% of the current HOF residents:
The same goes for the Dillards (playing the Darlings):

But why are we donating attention to an org that's defecated in our faces for decades?
The more attention we give them, the longer and worse the feces grows.

Dolly is geat but so dump to put in rnrhof. It's not like they already inducted all the rnr acts already. Aren't they still missing some obvious ones like rhcp or ufo or?

Personally I wont pay any attention until they let Steve Garvey and Pete rose in.

Dolly Parton has taken herself out of the running to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame later this year.
Earlier today, the 76-year-old country music legend asked the Hall to withdraw her name from the 2022 ballot, saying "I don't feel that I have earned the right."

Well, that ‘Ol Rock and Roller Leonard Cohen got in. I like him, but, come on. Good for her.
