Reverb - Offer Accepted / Buyer Silent

Anyone have experience with a buyer going cold after you accept their offer?

I had a person with a 38 5-star rating make an offer last night at 11:47 PM, on an EVM 12L speaker. I accepted his offer this morning at 10 AM and heard nothing. I looked on his 'store' page and saw that he bought an EVM 12L today and already received 5-star feedback from the seller for being a '"fast payer".

Something tells me he was under the influence last night and made a bunch of offers on EVM 12L speakers, knowing he was only going to buy one and not expecting to have his offers accepted.

I've had it happen once.

I've had people do that, then once I send a message they would act sheepish saying they accidentally went through multiple steps to make an offer. Then Reverb just lets it happen...

They should let you leave a negative for doing this. I’ve had this happen a few times

To be fair, you're talking about the guy not following through on payment for (at the time of your post) less than 12 hours. Reverb's own rules give a person 72 hours to pay after their offer is accepted, so thus far he really hasn't done anything wrong or anything worrying. Hopefully he follows through though, it's definitely annoying when someone drops out of a deal.

I think I've once had someone say they aren't sober and another person cancel saying they were confused about the model. But, drunk dude was early the next day and other person cancelled within just a few short hours. Before I had a chance to ship in both cases.

I've never had that happen, but I just sold a couple of guitars on Reverb and the Acoustic disappeared from my store but, no message, so I looked at my offers and someone had bought it for the asking price, but they ended up processing the payment for 3 days and finally messaged me that it was sold.
I've also had a rash of lowlife lowballers I got one of the PRS SE Silver Sky guitars decided it was not for me and listed it on Reverb for $900 to cover fees and such to get the majority of my money back the other used ones were flippers with price tags from $ 1199 to $1399 so this cat offers $700 for this very hard to get very desirable 3-day old guitar I wish I could leave a message to say what I really wanted to tell this Summer's Eve product but afraid Reverb would ban me so I just declined the offer. I just wish we had another outlet for used gear.

In my situation, the person made his offer at 11:47 PM Saturday night. I accepted his offer mid-Sunday morning. Something was nagging at me that he was avoiding me and I saw from his feedback on his 'store' that he had just purchased the exact same speaker from another.

So, I messaged him Sunday late afternoon politely asking if he wanted to continue with the order. I expected him to continue to avoid me and turn this into a long affair. To my surprise, he responded within the hour saying he was sorry and since I was taking my time accepting his offer, he thought I was just not responding. Accordingly, he made and closed another deal, to which he wanted out of my deal.

Wanting this not to turn into a crusade that Reverb would not back me on, I said "no worries" to him, canceled the order and relisted the speaker. Live and let live.

Sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you. I hate when a NGD turns to disappointment.

It was a great guitar just not for me I know my SX is an inexpensive guitar but to me with the mods I've done and good setup it plays as well as the PRS and with the Tex-Mex pups it nails that Fender Strat sound. So, I thought I would put the money into something else I might want. I also sold my Yamaha A5M acoustic so I may try one of @mickey recommendation with an Eastman E10D
