How to easily copy your old AGF threads off MOMO Board...

1} if you didn't sign up there when all the nonsense began last week, then create a fake account;
2) Even though they've made AGF a non-accessible private board, you can still get access to yours and others' old threads by typing the AGF user name in the Search box and hitting enter; Then click on the Member's tab and you'll see that member's (rather sparse) personal page come up; Then click on posts and their threads (not posts) should fill in directly underneath, depending on how prolific they were, this might take a while.
3) Click on the thread you want to copy and then close the user info window and the first post of the thread will be in the middle column with all subsequent comments in the right column;
4) Copy the initial post from the middle column and paste it to any blank document that supports HTML, then go over to the right column, hold down the shift key and scroll down using the slide bar on the right side of the right column highlighting everything there and then copy/paste into the new document with the initial post.
5) Once that's done, just print the new document to a PDF file and you've got the whole thing in one file, pictures, links and all.
A few additional notes - While it looks like all my threads are accessible, some members threads don't seem to want to come up (toomanycats), instead, things just hang after clicking on the Posts tab in the User Details window. Others (TVvoodoo, Mossman ) are obviously missing threads. I don't know if they're still in the process of importing past threads or it's just a screwup but FWIW, I was able to scroll down to my very first thread from March 2024.
If you had signed up for an account there and just want to copy some of your old ones, you can skip the search function and just click in My Posts in the left hand column and they'll all come up just to the right of that.
So if you want to go back and copy your threads or some noteworthy ones and you can recall who started them (Bubba Zanetti , there's a bunch there from HBowner), there you go. No need to print every page separately (my Bad Cat Guitars/Pink Jimi thread had over two dozen pages)...

Another caveat is that picture quality in momo is horrible. They condensed the pics, so you lose a lot of quality.
e.g.
AGF

I have a question though, and I don't mean to tick anyone off. Do they own the content? Like a Beatle having to pay Michael Jackson to play a song that they wrote? Legal scholars?
I have no content of worth but I could go climb into the rabbit hole and find some interesting things. What are we going to do without necrobumps?

Good question, I doubt that you don't retain rights to your own content but it should be referenced in the agreement when you first sign up...

Thanks for this, tobijohn. So what's the consensus on asking them to delete our content? How many 'regulars' have requested that or are going to?
I'm torn on it. There's a lot of info and memories in there, but if it's only going to be used by a third party on a board I'm not signing up for then I can't see why I shouldn't request that they delete everything.

Personally, I wouldn't bother. At some point they will redirect the aguitarforum.com address to the MOMO Board site and the backend and layout are so flawed, you'd have to really know what you're looking for. I'd wait until AGF MOMO is ever functional...

This is the kind of history I'll miss. It also reminds me of early on it was undisputed that the douglas was a step up from SX but 8 years later I say that and everyone thinks I'm crazy
At rondo now. I bought the douglas thinline a few months ago. It was a stunningly good guitar. This looks to be the same. The quality of the douglas over the sx can not be overemphasized in my experience. They only have 19 left.
Ash Burl Top for a Fantastic Look!
# Flat-top guitar with Basswood body and Ash Burl Top
# Bound body and 3-Ply Pickguard (tortoise/white/black)
# Hard Rock Maple neck with adjustable truss rod
# Rosewood fretboard with 21 frets and dot inlays
# Two single-coil pickups for traditional sound
# One volume and one tone control plus and 3-way blade stlye pickup selector switch
# Traditional Wilkinson bridge
# Die cast Chrome tuners
# Width of the neck at the nut approx: 1 5/8"; at the 22st fret approx: 2 1/4"
# Overall length approx: 39 1/2"; Scale length: 25 1/2"
# Width at the widest point approx: 13", body thickness at the edge approx: 1 3/4"
# Approx. Weight is only 9 lbs

I agree that the Douglas stand head and shoulders above the SX
@JoePerry4Life

I also agree about the douglas over SX. My dougla and my brothers douglas is far superior than the sx I have.

Just pulled the trigger.
I have been eyeing the sx for a long time but wanted a natural finish. I have only read good things so far but will post a review when it comes in.
Also it seems much of my historic posts didnt make it to momo. Just seems like there should be more there. Early on id did post a public service for an sjm for sale locally. Looking back it turns out I know the guy. Maybe not at the time but possibly. Its also possible he bought it because I was talking up sx guitars.

Bump for those who sacrificed their access to the old AGF by trying to spread the word. It looks like those scoundrels and varlets only migrated threads dating from April 2013 to the present...

If any of your recent posts on the old AGF directed people here then you're gone. You can still access all your stuff that's been migrated to MOMO between April 2013 and 5/25/20 with a dummy MOMO account...

You can also sometimes access your old threads simply by using Google Search. This can bring up stuff well before 2013 and does not require an account on old agf or momo agf boards.
In the Google Search Box enter "aguitarforum.com + whatever descriptive term best identifies your particular Thread or Post" and mash Search.
For instance I recalled a thread where an AGF member bought a bunch of guitars in an Estate auction, including some Yamaha SGs. Turns out it was guitaro.
a Google Search for "aguitarforum.com yamaha sg estate sale" gave me the thread I wanted to find.

The only advantage to accessing your past threads that have ben migrated to the MOMO site is that you can copy the complete thread and save it as a single file rather than have to print it to a PDF page by page as you would on the old AGF. Some of the most entertaining threads are 20-30 pages long and the build threads can go 10 or more as well...

You don't have to Print out the pages, you can simply save the pages 1 by 1 as PDF files on your computer. I create a Named Folder for each Thread and as I use Google>Settings>Print PDF>Save as PDF File I save them as files on my computer. You can print them out if you choose, but they can simply be saved as PDF Files and opened and read by any free PDF reader such as adobe, foxit or others.
tobijohn I did save a thread all in one Folder as HTML files but couldn't find an east way to open it so I quickly moved on to the method I describe above. I will re-read your posts on how to do that and maybe see if I can make it work.

When I said "print", I meant print to a PDF. Some browsers will let you save a page directly as a PDF, some require you to select "Print to PDF" as a printer. With the MOMO site, you can highlight the entire thread by scrolling down in the far right column, then hit Control C, then Control V and paste to a HTML friendly blank document, then save or print to a PDF file.
One caveat though, the very first post in the thread is in the middle column, not included with all subsequent posts in the thread in the far right column and has to be saved separately. If I have some time later, I'll go over there, do some screen shots of the steps and update my thread on it...

MAN I wish I had spent about 10 minutes more back at the start of the MOMO Mess to learn how to do the Save Entire Thread as HTML File. It was easier than I could have imagined.
It works Perfectly via Firefox on those old agf threads I can Google Up without logging in anywhere.
I just create a Folder on my Desktop with Name Of The Thread,
Go to Upper Right Hand Corner of Firefox "Menu" > go down to "Save Page As" and click> Direct it to the Named Folder I created > Save as HTML.
To view the entire thread all I have to do is Click on the HTML File in the folder, Tell it to use Firefox (or any browser) to open, and there is the entire thread.
I say again, I wish I had understood how to do this as my first attempts went badly. The Lifehacker article laid out below helped me understand it better.

Ooooops. Just discovered doing the way above saves pictures at a lower resolution. Bummer for threads with pictures..
Well, I must be missing something because I'm only able to save the first page of multipage threads this way. The method I described lets you copy multipage threads off of MOMO into one file (in my case, initially a MS Word document and then convert to a PDF if desired)...

To be clear - I am not going to momo. I am using googlr search and specific terms to access threads from old agf without logging in anywhere.
such as aguitarforum.com yamaha SG and Google returns versions of the old agf threads that are seemingly archived, but not on MOMO as far as I can tell.
Then using Firefox Menu I am now choosing SAVE PAGE AS, and here I get the Save As (anywhere I want to on my computer) and I save to a folder. After DL from internet I have a folder inside the parent folder that I do not need to access, and just under that folder is an HTML file that when clicked offers to open the thread in Firefox (or Edge or Chrome. I freely admit I may be missing something here.
Maybe when I click open through HTML via Firefox, it is just taking me back to the content online? What other free program can I use to open and view an HTML folder locally ?
I am pretty burned out on it and will probably go back to the one page at a time through Chrome/Print/Save as PDF because that gives me local content including full rez pictures.

I don't know what to tell you. I am unable to copy the entire thread off of the old AGF in one file using either MS Edge or Firefox if it is more than one page long. Using the instructions I mentioned and accessing an AGF thread on the MOMO site, I am able to copy an entire multi-page thread in one file. As an example, attached in PDF format s my very first thread on AGF which which ran more than one page. I also included Major Tom's last post which ran nine pages on 5/28 when I saved it:

Ran a dummy test and I qualified. When opening the HTML File via Firefox it was just taking me back online and That's why I could access all 14 pages of one of my threads.
Guess I am done DLing anything, but if I do I will use the old slow Chrome method that was working for me before. I am not planning to go back to Momo. Things may change but that is plan right now.
Apologize for the confusion. I am pretty good in some areas of computer stuff but a raw newbie in others. Saving websites offline is one of the raw newbie areas, for me.
