Wish me luck …

Well gang,
This has been a year of dodging bullets for me!

in July I had a CT-guided biopsy of nodules in my left lung—all clear, but with 6-monthly follow up scans for a year to make sure.
In August I damaged a hamstring, and am still getting physical therapy for that (complicated by possible touch of arthritis in knee on same leg.
I have been taking medication for BPH (enlarged prostate) for a year or so, but a week ago it flared up to the point that I had to go into Urgent Care and have a catheter put in to drain off a whole liter (as opposed to the average 1-200 cc!)

Tomorrow I go for checkup and assessment as to whether or not I'll have to get that little sucker reamed out …
It's hard to sit down for any length of time in one position, or to stand up for too long, which means that my practice routine has come to a screeching halt, just as I was starting to make some good progress with Chord Melody fingerstyle, something I'd not been all that interested in over my 70+ years of playing.

One funny thing—I had to wait over 20 minutes on hold to get a Urology appointment, listening to that godawful pseudo Kenny G crap (would that be a double pseudo? ). By the time they answered, I was ready to say "Thank God, listening to your "music" I was just about ready to do the operation myself with my late father's old Stanley hand drill!" :P :P

So, wish me luck, guys, will report back …

Oh, I have been down that path!
Urinary blockage is a b*tch.

Very familiar with the "reaming", had it done several times due to tissue growth post radiation. If you have it done, you will be numbed you know where, and there will be a very short, sharp pain moment. Not the end of the world. Just ask the uro which "French" number he or she is using (that is the size terminology in the field for the 'tool").
While in there, a bladder look-around is usually done. Weird feeling to have a foreign object navigating around. Easy.
Need antibiotic usually Cipro, before, Little bleeding, no big deal.

PM if you have questions.
Good luck, relax, you will be fine. Better get things checked before developing problems.

I'm not looking forward to this kind of stuff as time goes by.

I hope it all goes well for you, and that routine checks are all you'll need.

@t100d I sure hope all is well I know a little about growing old with health issues. Since 2011 I've spent a total of 19 months in hospitals and 11 months in nursing homes/physical rehab and have endured 27 surgeries. This started from an accident that broke 3 vertebrae ruptured 4 disc in my back then four strokes, Sepsis, hit with the paddles three times to bring me back and a ton more health problems. I've had some very dark times but something I heard along time ago has really helped me deal with deteriorating health. "No mater what happens in life it can only do one of two things, make you bitter or better and the choice is always yours". I chose better it took me 3 years to relearn how to play a guitar because of damage to movement in my left side from the strokes but I knew if Rick Allen could continue playing at the level his band Def Leopard plays after the loss of his arm I could overcome my piddling problems and I did. I live by myself in a wheelchair now and sleep in a recliner because I can no longer transfer to a bed and I have a irreversible colostomy and take a total of 31 pills each day. But I'm still here and I'm happy I can play music again and not trying to brag but I'm damn good at it. I also get together with my old roommate from the 70's who is a widower now and we go on an adventure almost every weekend. I only tell you this so I can say I no you're in a dark place now but there is light at the end of the tunnel and just so you know this my brother not only are all of your friends and family behind you and praying and wishing for only the best for you I am also and I'm confident that the rest of our AGF family are doing the same.
Good luck and God bless you my friend.

They doubled my dosage of Flomax, and I go back next Monday for catheter removal and test—gulp!
Compared to our friend redman I have nothing to complain about … thanks, redman, for your inspiring and thoughtful comments. This group is the best for mutual support, so glad i found you guys back on the old site. :D

The real drag is the necessary change in diet—all the stuff I love, Tea, coffee, chocolate, pork, dairy, spicy food, acidic fruit—it seems endless! However, I spent a happy hour today going through my collection of Mexican cookbooks figuring out recipes with no chiles or that could be adapted. Not to mention New Mexico and its Carne adobada and green chile recipes …

Good sign is that my leg, although still sore, is slowly stregthening and tomorrow I resume physical therapy for that. Next is flu shot and Covid booster, and maybe by next year I can focus on dental work!! Ah, the fruits of a mis-spent youth …
At least I'm still around, unlike so many of my friends and contemporaries in the mid and late 60's music scene in England.—I never got famous like they did, but I lived to tell the tale! :D

Hoping for a good outcome t100d. Having crossed the barrier and being closer to 100 than 0 myself, all the tests have started and honestly the waiting is almost as bad as the results sometimes. I had a couple of concerting measurements at my last checkup and follow ups came up negative this time, but those weeks of sitting and wondering take their mental toll.

I also find a lot of solace in places like AGF where the people are real and true for the most part, and glad you are part of the community. Be well and I hope you find healing from the immediate physical threats and also peace/solace from the associated mental effects.
