Does anyone have any contact info for @stevebway who used to be a moderator on one of the earlier versions of agf?
I jest realized that he sent me a PM over a year ago and I replied but he has still not read my reply.
With Covid, etc. I don't even know if he is still alive!
He is about my age (not a spring chicken!) so I am wondering if he is still around?
Thanks for any info you can provide.
If I had a phone number I would call him, etc.

@mickey I was actually trying to find him on FB some weeks ago (couldn´t find him). I was about to ask about him. Hope he´s ok. His father wasn´t well about a year ago, IIRC.

The thing that has always set this place apart from all the crap on the internet is that we are "family" here.

He and I chatted a lot about acoustic gigs, parlor guitars, songwriting, etc. but it has been awhile. I am not here as much as I used to be. We also communicated through fb messenger on occasion. I will try to run him down and find out what's up.

I asked about him about a year ago and he finally responded and said that his father wasn’t doing well and he was spending most of his time caring for him. I’ve just assumed that’s continued to be the case. Hope all is well with him personally.

I just checked his facebook page and found the following:
Steven Baker
THIS THURSDAY AUG 26 2021 at Silvana
I will be performing a generous set of my iconic covers, more and more becoming “ THAT GUY “ doing what are considered by many to be “ OLDIES”. As resistant as I've been to BEING that guy, I have to admit it is been both my most challenging and rewarding practice, working on the songs of my generation. It has made me a way better Musician and has forced me to get OUT of Myself and really dive into material.
I will be performing on my “HOTTEST” little guitar. It is “worthy” of the Upper West Side.
Everyone on the program is a seasoned genius of solo performance. It's very intimate. It's what WE do...
Silvana
I messaged him but did not hear back. From the looks of his post on Aug 23rd he seems to be doing fine, still rocking and rolling like the rest of us.

I always loved his Steely Dan covers. It takes a lot of balls for a guy to stand up there alone with a little guitar and perform material like that.

Steve is OK and very active in his open mic, performing gigs again in and around NYC. All is OK...during lockdown he was cooking gourmet meals that were out of this world and now he is back to gigging and happy

I was surprised as well but apparently that is an undersize guitar. Like me he has an affinity for the parlor acoustics and I think it has bled over onto the electric side too.Chocol8 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 3:59 pmIf that’s his acoustic gig, he fucked it up big time!tonebender wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 6:34 am He was rocking last night. Yeah for Steve portability is big, he lives in NJ and usually plays clubs in NYC...from someone who regularly commuted that route...you want to carry as little as possible...cramped stations, crush of passengers at rush times, then getting cabs after leaving the station...all easier with smaller packages.tonebender wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 10:47 amI was surprised as well but apparently that is an undersize guitar.
