Played a fill-in gig many moons ago for a local bunch of guys that called themselves "FREE BEER" we'd pull up to a venue to load in and the sign would read something like Friday Nite Only Free Beer. We seemed to pack the house everywhere we went I wonder why. :o

Always my go to for bar trivia groups, would equally apply for some string schwangsters.

Dumpster Juice

I can't take credit for it, but have to admit it has a certain putrid elegance....

For that matter, Putrid Elegance wouldn't be too bad either.

Over the years I've said probably hundreds of things in campy conversations that I thought would be great band names, but of course you never remember them past the moment.

Each spring us locals flipped through our new phone books to see if 'ol Barry McKokkiner was still in town. The phone book company had a good sense of humor and let it ride until phone books were no longer needed.

One of our band names was "Brooks Kellogg and the Assassins" referencing a local real estate agent who was picked up by the FBI in the Denver after paying an undercover "hit man" to take out a colleague. He went to jail and we played under that moniker until we were kindly asked to change it. BKA was firmly established by that time.

There used to be a grand band here called Justin Heat. It sounded a little awkward to me at first. But after they explained "We aren't in love, we're Just in Heat!" I never thought of it the same way again.

Radio show I listen to will mention it's their band name every time they come up with an interesting set of words.
Some woman documents it and here is a list from a few years

·

I knew that keeping that list around would come in handy! I have kept track of their band names for the past three years. (I guess I should reveal myself to be Mary In The Ho.) While we are talking about off-the-wall band names, what national/international bands can you think of that have a name that could be on a list above? I'll start with a few:

Dresden Dolls
Southern Culture on the Skids

I've read about a band that used to exist in the Florida keys, headed by a guy whose stage name was Big Dick. The band was, of course .........The Extenders.

I always felt that Nashville Pussy was fairly rude as well as the titles of most of their songs (take you pick below at your discretion as I don't want to make this a NSFW thread):

My 90's band was 'The iNbreds', because we played spot-on covers (at one time over 450 songs in our repertoire) and we all looked along the lines of the banjo player from 'Deliverance'.

Some alternative names I can remember:
'Buff the Musket'
'Cousin Dexter's Jukebox'
'Dance Your Pants Off

I was in a band called Popeye's Quivering Foreskin, and another called Coleslaw (because we were good next to anything).

Good Lord, at any given gig you could play any one of them on the spot? That's like the old Johnny Carson Show "Stump the Band" segment...

FWIW, the last band that I almost got together (and I'm talking ancient history here) was going to be called Velvet Elvis...
