Recent Purchases

Since there was not overwhelming objection expressed in the AGF Weirdness topic regarding firearms, I decided to post again for anyone interested.

I have been on a firearms acquisition spree lately. This hobby is just as addicting to me as guitar/gear for sure!

My first purchase was an H&K VP9 9mm with a laser/flashlight combo. We got this to keep at home in the (secured) nightstand.

My next purchase was a Springfield Armory Saint Victor chambered in 5.56/.223. This rifle rocks! Planned upgrades are a good sling, 1x prism scope and flashlight.

Just after Christmas I picked up a Taurus G3C 9mm. Since the laser sight on the H&K prevented it fitting in a concealable holster, I justified this purchase as I wanted a carry firearm as well, so, there you go!

Lastly, since I only had a slug shotgun for deer hunting, I rationalized a shotgun purchase so that I had a gun I could shoot buckshot out of. Hence the Weatherby Tactical SA-459 12 guage shotty.

I thought I was done for a while but I have recently gotten the itch to pick up a Sig P365 as it's a bit smaller than the Taurus.

Long ago, in a galaxy raw far away, my old man had a Weatherby 450 custom made (left-handed) when they we still manufactured in the UK for safari and big game (that was his thing). One of my brothers has it now...

I was not expecting this thread to take a Willie Nelson turn!

Nice haul. Now the problem is feeding them all ;-) I have noticed that there is at least some shotgun ammo back on the shelves around here at times. 9mm is coming back down to about $.50 -$.55 a round in bulk online, but that's still 3x what it was last summer.

I am thinking another 8-12 months before supply is back to normal and pricing returns to slightly non-inflated levels. The wild card being overall inflation and the devaluation of the USD hitting commodities like copper and lead.

Next time things are stabile, I am going to build up a much bigger stockpile than I have kept for the last decade.

Last one, I promise...

Wasn't looking to buy today but there it was. Only 1 in stock, that's why I picked it up. If you wait, someone else buys it. I waited 2 days to pick up a Henry 22 lever action and it was gone when I went to get it.

Kind of like the last potato chip right? :-). Lever actions are cool, check out the 10/22 from ruger as well - probably the most customizable and one of the most reliable 22lr rifles ever made. I still have an old-school carbine version that belonged to my Wife's grandfather and I picked up a takedown version with a Magpul Backpacker stock. Even though there are 50 years plus between them, the mags and trigger assembly/action are virtually identical and interchangeable.
